Just re-did my front brakes tonight, major grinding on the Rotors, just torn up. So here's the story:
About a year ago, I replaced all 4 pads/rotors. I bought the truck new in 2015. 80,000mi later, I decided to do all new brakes as best practice. I found that the OEM brakes were still in pretty good shape. Despite my aggressive braking and frequent towing, I probably could've gone to 100k on the original brakes.
I replaced all 4 corners with Advance Auto Wearever Platinum pads and rotors. Nice and shiny.
Well, 1 year and about 23,000mi later, they are toast. Ridiculously worn, and I never had any warning until the scraping started.
They were crap to begin with, my front wheels are black from the amount of dust they made, and they were never particularly grippy. Just crap brakes.
I don't know what kind of unobtanium **** Nissan uses, but I'll stick with OEM from now on. $225 for another 80,000+mi, yes please. Better than $150 for about 22,000mi.
