Thanks for all the input guys! I just ordered a set of those pipes and a knock sensor from RockAuto.com. Hopefully I can get the pipes, Nismo cat-back, and Volant CAI on in the next couple weeks and be happy with the upgrades.

joefrontier2,
I'd sell you my bull bar... but I want to get a Shrockworks bumper to replace it... and I don't really want to spend $1000 right now. I'll hook you up when I do though. :)

Okay i have an 04 CC would these work on my truck? I looked at them on Rock Auto and its says 99-00. I just want to make sure before i decide on investing on these.

Also Is the boost in accel really noticeable? And how much more sound does it give. Im hearing from y'all that its some, barely noticeable, or a lot. Can someone nail it down for me?

Yes they will work on the 04. The reason that they are only found under the 99-00 is because "some" of those models did not come with the secondary cats.

Let's take some unrealistic ideas out of the equation. Removing the 2nd cats will not turn your Frontier into a sports car. I still have yet to squeel tires with my SE 2003. With the 2ndary cats gone you will feel that your truck will have more pull on the highway. The sound is not all that louder than stock.

Of all the improvements I say that this was one of the best improvements so far to get the truck up and out of it's own way.

Aight cool thats exactly what i wanted to know. Ill probably order that soon. I have no problem getting rid of some cats.

And just to be sure this isn't going to set of my SES correct? Its already on so i don't want another reason to make it be on. Ive been trying to go through and eliminate things that would set it off.

NOPE! No SES light. I have had mine on since August. *Cross my fingers*

Pull the codes and find out why it's on.

Yeah, I got them quick from RockAuto. But I can not get up there towards the front cats, and all the bolts are very rusted..I am going to a shop to get them to instal them, and also looking at replacing the y-pipe with a mag..at this point I might as well have them rerun from the from cats to where they left off after the y-pipe lol

Yeah I ended up taking mine into too. It was too hard to get under the truck and get a really good angle on the bolts.

I have the Nismo exhaust so my "Y" pipe was included in the package. BTW: The Nismo exhaust has held up quite well.

Yea i have pulled the codes and it has given me anywhere from 5-8 different ones. The only ones that are always in the line up are the O2 sensors. So i'm replacing those first. If that doesn't work i guess ill need to replace my injectors cause thats what the diagnostic said i needed to do. but thats just to expensive to start off the bat trying to replace.

Not that it may or may not would help but have you cleaned your MAF sensor? Vacuum hoses broken or missing?

Just wanted to say, I did the b-pipe cat delete. Noticeable power gain and MUCH louder. Actually had to get a different muffler (was running a generic straight through muffler I won in a raffle, now I'm running a FlowMaster 60 series, and it's still loud), but I'm happy with this mod.

So far I've done an ignition tune up, headers, cat deletes, muffler with tail pipe dumping in front of the rear tire, Volant CAI, Jet TBS and some other misc tune up stuff.

Thanks for bumping this thread. It seems as if we have the same exact truck. I have been toying with replacing my exhaust for a few months now since I have a hole somewhere under my feet. This might be the solution I've been looking for. Anything that will get a few extra ponies outta this truck is on my radar.

Nice! Yeah, it definitely is a nice little mod for cheap. Best place I found the pipes is Summit. Cheaper for parts and free shipping than anywhere else I found (even cheaper than Rock Auto). It does take some time though. Took 4 hours for a couple buddies to get it all apart and back together (everything is just packed together so tightly, that it was alot of work to make room to get the cats out). If you have an aftermarket muffler, be warned, it makes it MUCH louder lol.

This sounds like a great mod to buy, but what would happen if you took the b cats off and hollowed them out and put them back in. No Cost. I done this to my Ford Contour and gained power and great sound. Most states require cats to be installed nothing about them having anything in them. I plan on doing this. I will report back with any issues.

I had that. The primary cat cracked, then broke in half. Check your motor mounts, before doing a bunch of exhaust work.

I'll take a look at the mm's as soon as I get a free minute. I dont have any play in the engine when the truck shifts so I never thought to look at the mounts. I had a new set of tires put on the truck then when to Taco Bell for lunch and noticed water under the drivers side, like condensation in the exhaust dripping from a hole. Getting ready to take it over to a friend of mines place within the next week or so. He has a lift, so I'll be able to get it up in the air.
