Catisrophic failure of the front driveline broke a hole into the side of the transmission, local salvage wanted between 2000-2300$.

So I did some reading and bought a Titan instead.
This was its sad state when I picked it up:

I was able to get the three flats to take and hold air again which was a big surprise. Also pulled the busted windshield

After I ensure all parts are in running condition I will start the powertrain tear down.
But so far..

Pulled the intake plenum and found quite a lot of oil sitting on top of the valves.

Sucked the oil out and cleaned them up. Pulled the spark plugs and checked compression. Initially a little low, but primed the cylinders with a little marvel mystery oil and brought the compression up well above minimum standards.

Going to electric fans and no A/C so I'll be getting a custom serpentine belt to accommodate the new length tomorrow, also will putting all fresh fluids in and seeing if she'll drive.

curious why you arent doing ac? its a single size belt to connect everything and the ac lines literally bolt into the vk compressor. from there its 150-200$ at your local shop to have them charge it for you.

Probably a dumb excuse for most, but I just don't use it. I'm much more of a windows down kinda guy.
Put her back together enough to drive out of the shop and around the parking lot. Everything felt strong and responsive. Planning to leakdown test before I start the strip down of the chassis.

Performed some more tests on the VK56 this weekend. Really want to ensure its in good condition before doing the swap.

Cylinder leak down test.

Passed with no problems

Block test.

Also no issue

But last test of the day I found a problem. Added some UV dye to the radiator and let it run for a few minutes. Checked the oil and it was pretty glowy. Head gasket in my future.

Finished the front end swap. Installed the front diff m205 and half shafts, rack and pinion, upper and lower control arms, wheel hub assembly's with the Titans bigger breaks and rotors, and having to use the stock Titan wheels because the lug pattern is different. Big bummer, I was wanting to keep my wheels.

Truck has to look all sad without its rear-end until I finish welding on the new leaf spring perches for the m226 to mount up correctly.

Waiting on the lift to open up to get the rear in. Sent out my harness to SinisterFrontier06 for some Pro rewiring. Getting close enough I can taste it.
