Hey guys, im getting a strange vibration sound coming from underneath the truck only when cold and accelerating at about 2 thousand rpm. 1st gear, 2nd gear and 3rd. Again this only happens when the truck is cold, and its definetly coming from underneath the truck from the left front. I dont feel it in my seat or steering wheel i just hear it. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? Im going to have the dealer check it out at the next oil change anyways because i have a couple other issues but i just want to know if anyone has any ideas? It's a stock 07 KC Nismo 4x4.

Thanks
Marc

I also have the 2K vibration. More evident when it is cold. Did you ever get it looked at? Diagnosis?
I am going to take mine in at some point if it does not go away soon.

i can guarantee the dealer is going to tell you its not a prob or they dont hear it......................thats what they do to me. doesnt sound like a big enough problem.

Hell I asked them to look at it real quick when I had it in for it's first oil change

"oh so your going to leave it"

"no just have someone check to make sure everything is tight. It sounds like a loose skid plate type rattle"

"oh well I'm just going to put it in with a lube tech and he's too "f"ing stupid to tighten a few bolts so we can't do that for you this time"

so if you guys figure it out please let us all know.

There is a TSB for something at 2500RPM, but I think it was in the engine bay.

Last Winter mine did the same thing, but only after I added the AEM CAI. Now that its Summer, it hasnt done it since.

Marc,

Is yours an auto or manual trans? I also have a rattle that is impossible to tracce. My dealer has had the truck for a total of almost 3 weeks on 2 seperate appointments. Mine is like a buzz rattle that happens in 2nd, 3rd amd 4th gear. I have an 07 6 speed.

False - The TSB you are referring to only affected the 05s and possibly the 06s. It is the VIAS rattle that is inside the intake manifold. The 07s have a revised manifold that corrected the problem.

Yes i have a 6 speed, and yes that is exactly when it happens and sounds like. Also had mine in the dealer. Havent traced the problem either. Getting a little frustrated. I really dont think it is a huge problem because it only happens when cold or stopped for a while but i would still like to know what it is.

Marc - I have a funny feeling the noise is related to the transmission. Something in the 6 speed manual is just not right. So far for me it is an annoyance only - but I would hate to find out that my trans is shot when I am either stuck in traffic, 1000 miles away from home on vacation or when my warranty just expired. I will keep you updated on my 3rd trip to the dealer - If you have any info, please let me know as well.

I have the rattle, 2100 rpm, god its irritating, i just dont want to give my truck to them(dealer) for as long as they claim to need it, 2 days is alot to be without her...
VIAS rattle only affected 2005 and earlier. Mine is an 07.... Besides, as an extra measure I did that service myself and still had the rattle...

Fixed (I hope)

Went first to the dealer where I bought the truck. No luck, service people could not hear the noise.

Second dealer (where I had my hit and run damage fixed) found the problem.

Cause:23
LA20AA R&I/RPL FRONT PROPELLOR SHAFT
4375 WP 0.50
1 37200-ZP90A SHAFT
FC: ZN23
PART #: 37200ZP90A

Service advisor told me it was seized. The mechanic had seen it before and said he knew the problem right away.

All quiet for now.

Its really funny to hear that you guys have the same problem. When I had my 06 nismo kc it did it and I was at the dealer and told everything is good. So I traded that truck in for the 07 nismo CC and 2 blocks from the dealer I bought it at I heard the noise but this time it is alot louder.

Back again

On the way back to town from the lake this evening I heard it again. Not as loud, but it is there. Not pleased.

Welcome to the club. After the 3rd unsuccessful time at fixing the rattle on my truck my dealer decided to conveniently discontinue the loaner car program. I take this as pretty much a gesture of get lost. But be that as it may, my truck has been making that noise for 7000 miles now, and so far has been performing flawlessly.

Let me ask you this, when you first accelerate from a stop in first gear, do you hear a "rattle" noise right at around 3000RPMs? My first gear seems to be very noisy - but not sure if its normal or a progression of something related to the buzz/rattle.

I've had this problem, not necessarily when its cold, but when I'm under acceleration in the 2,000 to 3,000 rpm range. If I get my rpm's higher the vibrating goes away or if I lower my rpms. My bother has a 2005 Xterra (6 speed) with the same problem. So we've been discussing and this is what he found on the xterra boards.

Could this be what your experiencing?
Thanks.

Dan - Yep. That pretty much describes my buzz/rattle. I have had the rattle since new and now I have almost 14,000 miles. My dealer did replace my release bearing - but it did not fix the noise. When my rattle occurs, I can actually modulate the pitch of the buzz with the clutch pedal. To this day I am still waiting for a definitive answer as to what the heck that noise is. My biggest fear is that the problem will show itself when I am out of warranty because I tend to keep my vehicles for the long term.

I have the same problem too, rattle noise right at 2100 rpm and then it goes away when I hit 3000 rpms but gets louder when I hit 4500+.
I have a 2005 SE CC 6 speed 4WD I love my truck no other problems other than that misterious rattle, I took it to the dealership a month after I bought it (I got mine right after the new style came out on jan of 05) and they couldn't hear anything so I told them that I would drive if they want to come with me and still I'm like "see can you hear that" and the guy is like "no what noice".
so back then I research online and found a site that state that the noise came from the air intake and that it need it to be torqued to a certain amount of pressure by pound but I couldn't remember the name of the website and I still get the rattleing noise after 36000 miles.
I still like my truck a lot and I got some 18" on and the side steps, bug deflector, fog lamps, and really want to get a nav system and XM radio on.

Okay, I took my truck in and the service manager thinks its the throw out bearing thats causing the off and on vibrating sound.

I'll post when I get it back and see what they say.

#24 ·
Negative. I had mine my throw-out bearing replaced and the noise is still there. It happens less frequently but the noise is still there! For all I know it could have been something else that was "loose" when they went to replace the bearing since they had to take apart alot of other things to get to the bearing. I'm starting to wonder if its my timing chain thats making the noise. Keep us updated. Thanks

mine is making the noise too, a 05 4 door V6. My " service engine soon" light just came on too. Im thinkin manifold or valves? I thought it may be just lo-octane gas or something? Im glad to hear other people are having this issue too....in the way that you dont feel like your the only one.

my service light never came on and since I had all those parts replaced, I haven't heard the noise/vibrating sound. Since yesterday, I have driven it hard with the rpm's high and so far so good.

Glad to hear you are having luck with your repair. My truck tends to make that noise more in the summer months so dont break out the champagne until you still havent heard the noise by the end of the summer!

Anyone still have this problem? My 11' has the buzz in 3rd and 4th right around 2k. It sounds as though it may be coming from the clutch assembly. I just did the clutch pedal adjustment, but the buzz sound has been there since new.
