Hi all,

I have a question. I have a pretty decent vibration at 55 & 70MPH. I just had my tires rotated/balanced last week. The vibration was origionally coming from the passenger side front and now seems to be coming from the passanger side rear (b/c of the tire rotation). The tires are Firestone Destination A/T's. The passenger rear tire looks and feels fine.

Any ideas on what could be causing the vibration???

Thanks,

-TJ

Sounds like the tire balance, Ive had balancing issues with my AT.. taken them to discount tire had them balance, and still had the problem took it to a different one and there comment was " who the hell did you have balance these, there way off". When i kindly reply "discount tire" they promptly re balance and its perfect for atleast a few months... i've had to do this same thing several times... just my .02

Could it be possible that the tire itself is faulity.....like a broken belt?
That is possible, unlikely, but possible. I know I had to have my BFG A/T's balanced three times to get the shake out of them. Similar speeds as you too. My money's on the balance. Also, make sure you're at the correct tire pressure. The combination of too much air and an out of balance wheel was making my truck go all over the place.

So I went to the 'tire store' and they swore by the balancing last weekend. I had the tech ride with me so he could feel how bad it was at 70 MPH. He said he thought it was something vibrating on the drive line. We put the truck up on the lift and noticed that there was wetness around the ring and pinion seal on the rear axle. There was also some play in the driveshaft, you could wiggle it back and forth a little. All 3 techs there said that I should take it too the dealer since that isn't right.

Have any of you had to replace a ring and pinion seal, drive shaft, or rear axle?

Oh yeah my truck is a NISMO w/ 56K on it.
