Hello all,

I just purchased a 2006 LE CC 4x4, and am in the market for a tonneau cover. This is the first pickup that I have owned so I have no experience with the different brands and types.

I'd like to have:

1. Hard cover
2. Lockable
3. Weathertight
4. Minimal or no drilling
5. Easy to remove - light

The VersaCover product seems to fit the bill here (http://www.versacover.com/). Does anyone have any experience with them, or can you suggest an alternate?

Last time I checked that Tonneau was not available for the new Frontiers. If it is now, I was told by several of the truck parts dealers that it was a great cover. The locks looked a little flimsy to me, one of each side. The guys here talked me into the Extang Trifecta, I wanted one easy to get off and semi-watertight. I almost got the the Fold-a-Cover but it was over twice as expensive. Good luck.

How do you like the Trifecta? I considered it, but was a little afraid that the vinyl would look weathered over time compared to aluminum or ABS plastic.

I have the Trifecta also, and really like it. The vinyl is really pretty strong, they sent me a sample with a cut in it and I couldn't rip it any further than where the cut ended. Also, if you get a cover by Xtang, pick up a bottle of Tonneau Tonnic, it's a product Xtang makes for their covers, and the Trifecta has a lifetime warranty, so I figure if it fades or tears due to weathering, and I'm using their product to protect it, I shouldn't have a problem with getting it repaired or replaced!

I've only had mine for two weeks but so far I like it. I believe it was Paul's writeup and pictures that helped me decide on the Trifecta. Someone could cut the top open so it's not totally secure, that's why I decided to get lockable tool boxes secured to the uni-tracks. But if someone wants in bad enouth they can get into any cover. What I like best about the Trifecta is it's easy on and off about a minute. Install time about 30 minutes first time if you have the tracks, it requires 4 brackets for the securing clamps.

I got mine from TruckAddons for $290. Wouldn't recommmend them though, I had problems with them. Has taken over a month to get it all straighten out.

Here's a pictured intalled.

I believe I read that on the Titans the struts attach to the utilitrack rails on the sides of the bed. I would think this would prevent an accessory like the sliding divider or sliding bed extender from traveling the full length of the bed. I don't know if they are using the same set up for the frontiers.

Here is the email I got from Versa Cover. Explains about the utili-track fit

Some Frequently Asked Questions about this cover:

Question: Will this cover work with the factory installed bed extender?

Answer: Yes. Simply open the cover and the bed extender will flip out as normal on the tailgate.

Question: I have factory installed plastic side rail covers and a plastic tailgate protector on my truck. Can I install the cover on top of these?

Answer: Absolutely! Whether or not your truck comes with the plastic side rail bed covers and/or a plastic tailgate protector, the cover will install perfectly on your truck without any modifications whatsoever.

Question: Does this cover utilize hardware that installs directly in the Utili-Track system.

Answer: No. The covers installs directly on the inside lip of the side rail without any drilling whatsoever. This is a great feature as should you have a Utili-Track System installed on your Frontier, the installation hardware clamps directly to the inside lip of the side rail (just above the Utili-Track) without taking up or affecting the Utili-Track in any way! This means that none of the Utili-Track is taken up in any way by hardware, so all the space on this track is available for you to install other accessories.

Question: I have a 2005/2006 Frontier King Cab /Quad Cab with the 73.5 in bed. When will a cover be available for this truck?

Answer: There is no fixed time for development for this cover, but we anticipate that we will have a cover developed and available for this truck by mid year. Please read below the signature line of this email as we two sister companies that offer a cover for the new 2005 Nissan Frontier with the 73.5 in bed.
