I'm looking to get a few odds and ends and looking to the US because of the much lower prices. ie, OEM step bars $160 versus $400+ Canada.

However, every US website charges hundreds for shipping larger items like these.

Are there any US dealers that ship cheap? USPS? I think I may be better off waiting till the summer when I drive down to pick them up...

I order tons of things from the states. Sometimes I get it shipped here, sometimes I get it shipped across the line and drive down and pick them up.

To make it worth my while driving down, I usually order several things at once and pick it all up at the same time. Sometimes my buddies ship stuff there at the same time and somebody runs down there and gets it all.

Another plus is the customs wait times. Sometimes customs holds onto parts for a ridiculous amount of time... if you drive back, all you have to do is walk in there with receipts and pay the PST.

For stuff for my fronty, I've had pretty much all of it sent to a shipping depot stateside and driven down. I found that even when I found places willing to ship to Canada, the shipping costs were pretty high. And then there is the issue that many places only using UPS or FedEx, and then getting dinged with the brokerage charge. I guess it depends on how far from the border you are, but I'd strongly recommend the drive if you are not more than a couple hours away and are getting several things at once. The only slight hassle I had was getting my credit card to add the shipping depot address to my account. Scotiabank, where I do most of my banking, wouldn't do it for me. I have a BMO card too, and they were more than happy to oblige.
