Hi,

I have been experiencing a "tin can" like rattle coming from under the truck it is present at all times when on the throttle and especially loud around the 2500 rpm range. It is not around during idle so I can only hear it when another vehicle is next to me, or I'm driving next to a wall or barrier of some kind. I have done some looking around and for Ford trucks it seems that it may be something loose in the Catalytic Converter. Are they on to something? The sound makes me feel like I'm killing my baby. Anyway thank you all for any help

I had a noise that I thought was one of my belts or maybe my intake rattling on the hood. It was none of those. I also had the dealer look into it and they said they fixed it and blamed it on my intake lol, sad cause it definitely wasn't. I recently got a new bumper and the noise completely went away. I would recommend looking around the front bumper and see if you can tighten anything or push it around so it doesn't rattle. When I was removing it I also noticed several screws/fasteners missing from the assembly which possibly would have contributed to the noise.

Heat shield(s) in exhaust system are known to make some awful rattling sounds at various RPMs.

One of the clamps on my exhaust heatshield broke on my 2013 4WD SV and the rattle was terrible. I knew what it was immediately because it also happened on a 1883 Nissan pickup I had for many years. The fix was a hose clamp.

Thanks to all of you I can rule out the bumper because rattling stops after I get off the gas even at speeds. I will definitely take a look at the exhaust and heat shielding I will check back soon with what I discover thanks again

SOLVED!!

Thank you all the heat shield tip led to the solution. A heat shield next to the passenger side manifold was too close and would rattle every time the block you move slightly so I pulled it away by hand and vualah the noise is gone. Again thank you to all.
