Well I just got the call from my local dealership about my U joints. I dropped the truck off yesterday morning because of a loud squeak and knew exactly what it was. (If you know me i often pretend to not know whats going on around me when talking to the sharks at stealerships to see if they give a straight anwser.)

So he calls me and says front is bad and rear is worse so its gonna be 600 dollars or so to be repaired. I simply asked him over the phone "isnt that covered under the 5/60000 warrenty since my truck 06 just rolled 45k on thursday?" He replied no i put it in the computer and it says it was not covered. So i just told him that ok ill pick it up today and he told me it will be washed and vacuumed for me and i only owe 115$ for the diagnostic since no repairs have been made yet.

So i guess im on my way to make my case to the service manager with the warrenty booklet in hand. Wish me luck! Let you all know how it goes.

That's a shame and a sham. They should at least know what's in the powertrain warranty coverage before trying to bend you over. They should pay you $115 for trying to cheat you.

nascarjody Big thanks for posting that info it was alot more ammo for me :).

Well i went up there and talked to the service guy who gave me the news and again asked him to explain to me what was the issue. He again began to explain the problem and I sat back and listened to his spill. I let him finish and and nicely stated well i happen to have a copy of the warranty that was nicely highlighted for him to see cleary. He took a look at it and asked where'd you get this and i stated directly from Nissan USA. He then said I'll be right back.
So im thinking that i got him now and he comes back 5 minutes later and told me that the Universal joint wasn't the real problem and that to fix the real problem they would have to buy a "Kit" and pay for 3 hours of labor still and it wouldn't be covered. I then pulled out a copy of the post that nascarjody posted with all the name of the parts on it and asked to see exactly what parts were gonna be ordered for my truck and he pulls it up and ill be damn if its the same parts for 68.95 a piece. So then i tell him i think that i need to talk to the service manager and he replied let me go talk to her again. So here's the kicker for me the guy returns and gives me such a load of crap. He say's that the manager said to not worry about it and that they would cover all cost as some type of customer comp deal since it was under "X" dollar amount. And was very careful not to mention "warranty".
So they never wanted to admit that i was right and they were wrong but instead made it sound as if they were doing me a favor. So ya long story short its getting covered and i dont have to pay anything and the truck should be able to be piced up on Monday which is what should have been done with alot less words.

Sounds like a bunch of Goobers work there. It's not rocket science.

Thats some awsome news man. Good job in dealing w/ them scumbags. Some dealers are just bigger idiots than others i guess. I brought mine in for the same issue around 32,000 mi. and they repaired it under warranty w/ no questions asked and at no cost.

Your welcome. I just dont understand what some people are thinking. My advisors dont lookup if something is covered or not. I deal with submitting the warranty so I look up coverages. Any dealer that lets the advisor look up coverages has a really lazy warranty admin.

that sucks they gave you greef over it, i just took mine in today because it makes a click or lil clunk sometimes when i put it in reverse or drive, so i figured it would be the u-joint, but everything checked out ok and they told me it would be covered if it did go out, and they didnt charge me anything to check it out. i do have the gold 100k warranty though i dont know if that makes a difference or not.

oddly they replaced my fuel level sender unit again, even though they had already done it last year and it has been working fine. he said nissan is doing a recall campain on them. he wasnt sure if it was a new part, or if they just didnt note that they had allready done it. so people that dont have any warranty left and need that replaced try calling your dealer, it may be covered now.
