My truck finally had it's first problem. On my way home tripped the CEL and started cutting out. Barely limped to the side of the road. Fired it back up a few mintues later, ran ok until I gave it gas then did it again. I called I tow truck and had it hauled home. I'm gunna tow it to work tomorrow and figure it out...Andy, you still have that vq40?

Was SES Flashing?

If it was, this means the ignition system was not working correctly, not firing correctly and unburnt fuel was running out the other end of the engine. This can be caused by a bad ground on the ignition system and can burn up the coils along with eff over the ECM... uncool, I know, happened to me.

It could also have been a failed fuel pump maybe?..

If not these two things, start super simple, clean the mother effing shi* out of the battery cabled and swap batteries with another vehicle, check body grounds in left and right far sides of the engine bay.

man that sucks, scares me too cause we both have similar trucks with similar things done on the 4 cylinder. I dont have money for problems right now either hahaha. Hope its an easy fix man, and that you figure out what cause it so I can share that knowledge. Good luck.

okay, got some time and when out and checked the wires to the MAF since i extended them for the CAI (i currently have stock on). nothing looked strange so i started it for the hell of it and drove a few miles and all seemed okay. I have a feeling i have a bad connection in there (almost a year on the crappy insulated connectors i had laying around). I'll pull codes tomorrow at work to verify then redo it.

Pulled codes and found a bunch about the MAF. Took my extension apart and watched wires fall out. Haha. Crappy connectors are cause. Redid it all with non insulated and heat shrink. I also discover that a Snap On Verus can do the 2* timming advance. That woke the truck up big time

i originally went to some guy at an infiniti dealer and was gonna pay him 20 bucks to do it. I was super stoked, this was a while ago, but he had the consult 2 and did the advance for guys all the time. He knew what he was doing. For some reason though when he plugged in to mine it wasnt letting him do it for some reason. I was super bummed that day, since then Ive kind of stopped but now I want to try and get it again.
