Redline's MT-85 is prolly the best longer lasting lube for our trannys. OE lube is a cheaply made short lived semi-syn, where Redline uses Ester base oils with the best additives. when my 125,000 mile jetta tranny barely shifter Redline's MT-90 was the cure!!

it was a 2001 wolfsburg 1.8T with the O2J 5 spd manual known for soft syncros. MT-90 is not a cure all but it worked well for me. i traded for a 2001 TT with the O6M 6 speed + shifting was ok but not the best, again MT-90 made a big improvement. redline's site shows recommended fluids, you can call tech as well. i just ordered some redline lubes on e-bay for best delivered prices. got mine from TCSAutoparts. VWVortex is a great site for all things VW, some Audi as well, i learned a lot there

Thanks for that awesome info. Yeah, VWVortex is where I found out about the all too common RCV (Refrigerant Control Valve) failure w/ step by step repair instructions. Saved me at least $1600 on that one. Thsnk you again.
