Just wondering whose transfer case Nissan uses, and what model.

I really like the way Nissan tucked everything up inside the frame; nothing hangs down to get caught on rocks or stumps.

The transfer case under the Titan and Frontier/Xterra/Pathfinder is a TX15 - which is an electronically actuated chain driven case with a 2.6:1 crawl ratio.

Older Nissans use the TX10 which is a manually actuated chain driven case, also with a 2.6:1 gear ratio.
The TX15 is an evolution of a TX10, and is actually (sadly) the strongest part of the drivetrain in the D40/etc

They are homegrown (eg, not new process or anything like that)

This is the first truck I've had with an electronic transfer case shift. Kinda odd not having a manual lever.

I'm curious (though thankful) why Nissan doesn't use any unlocking hubs, but probably that's good considering the issues Ford (for example) has had with their IWE hubs.

If there isn't any disconnect mechanism then that's one less thing to go wrong!
