I've got a 2000 3.3, auto trans 2WD kingcab, 108K miles. Just recently it's had a noise coming from underneath as I drive. Makes the noise as I leave from a stop, noise at the upshift around 1500-2000 RPM. Mostly on the 1 to 2 shift, but starting to hear it on 2 to 3 upshift also, again around 2000 RPM. My daughter says it sounds like a goose, but it's kind of a washboard sound, that lasts less than a second. It does not make this noise while in neutral, whether standing still or moving, while revving the engine past the RPM range I mentioned. Trans fluid looks and smells fine, level is correct.
I bought my truck about a year ago, had 101K miles on it then. Has not has the timing belt replaced as yet and I doubt that the trans has been flushed.
So, has anyone had this happen to them? I did a search here and one guy had a whirring noise after flushing his transmission without changing the filter. Was fine after a filter change.

Thanks in advance!

get the timing belt done asap, if tranny fluid hasn't been flushed, time to do that as well. nissan's trannys don't have a filter, just a mesh screen and a magnet under the pickup- nothing to change.

Roastbeef,
I'm planning on changing the t-belt, water pump, etc... sometime over the next couple months. I already bought all of the parts, except for the cooling bypass hose. As far as the trans noise, I'm just guessing at this point, trying to find some more information to see if it's worth changing the fluid right now, or if I'll have to rebuild the trans or replace the torque converter.
Thanks for the reply.
