I've put my frontier to the test and i was impressed with it towing abilities. I pulled my new 6000lb 33 foot RV 450 miles, and my frontier is still alive. I was able to maintain 65-70mph in 5th gear while getting 9.5 mpg. The trip was 90% level ground, and the hills slowed me down a lil bit. I dont plan on pulling this thing often so I have no need to upgrade to a titan. Nissan makes a damn strong truck.

That's awsome. I've waiting on some one to to put the trailer hitch to good use. Something other than a couple jet skis.

I thought those RV's were lighter then that. I looked at a 27ft one and it only weighed like 3,000 lbs if I remember correclty.

Wow, nice to know it holds to the figures. Wonder about the long term effects on the tranny though
I think someone here once said that the Fronty uses the Titan's tranny. I thought that was pretty impressive but I couldn't find any official documentation confirming this.

Depends on what you put in them.. My parents 25 foot with pull out and the works is 5500lbs unloaded but you put all your gear in you putting an additional 1000 lbs. .. there’s also came stock with a dolby 5.1 in it.. and they don’t even have that in the house.

Didnt it push you around while driving downhill??
In case you were asking me, no. And my trailer brakes are busted (not holding brake fluid). It handled the hills like a champ. I even had several people pull off the road, in the turn-outs so that I could pass them, including a lady driving a subaru SUV, and a guy driving a full-size chevy pulling a ski boat.

It pulls my 18ft V6 Sea Ray like it is not even back there.

That boat used to pull my 97 Pathy all over the place.

It is impressive that a mid sized truck, such as the Frontier, can handle a large RV weighing 6,100 pounds. However, I'm certain Nissan tested this vehicle extensively making certain it could handle the advertised 6,500 pounds (with proper equipment) to avoid lawsuits from overstressing the equipment. I'm confident that the Frontier is a stout performer. Maybe even more stout than advertised as to avoid legal issues.

Going from memory, I thought the Fronty was only rated for 6,000 or 6,500 lbs. The class 3 towing hitch is only rated for 5,000.

What hitch set-up are you using?

Frontier is rated at 6500lbs (for my truck at least) @ 55MPH up a 6% grade for over 20 miles @110F Ambient Temp without overheating. And thats a box trailor, which has far worse aerodynamics than a boat. The titan is rated the same way, except at 9100lbs or whatever they can tow these days. But thats how Nissan Tests them.

The Nissan dealer-installed hitch is a class 3, but rated above 'standard' class 3 hitches. I believe it's 6500lb.
