So I want to purchase a crewcab since me and my wife are planning on expanding the family sooner than later but I carry around a fair amount of tools (which I could definitely consolidate) and from time to time use to haul small amounts of lumber for various projects around the house. I do not really want to use a full size toolbox as it looks kinda silly on the small bed. I also am not a fan of the long- bed cc. So has anyone had a custom toolbox build or know of any solution that would allow me to carry some tools yet not take up the entire bed.

Thanks,

Tm

A guy on here is using a trailer tongue box from Harbor Freight, you could rig it to bolt to the utilitrac in the floor. Has it against the cab and has room on either side for long boards, and you could remove for big sheets of wood if need be.

- Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

$129 and if you look in automotive magazines or maybe online, you can find 15 and 20% any one item coupons. I think it's even low enough to fit underneath a tonneau cover if you've got/ever want one.

Good luck with the search!

Yeah I have been looking through my northern tool catalog. I may try and get a custom box built. One that does not sit on top of the bed and that will mount to the back of the bed so it is off of the floor a few inches. That would allow me to slide plywood and other lumber under it.
