Tonneaus/Bakflip question

I am looking for a tonneau and considering the Bakflip G2, but I have a question. If you open the tailgate with the tonneau closed, can you just reclose the tailgate. Or do you have to open the tonneau, close the tailgate and reclose the tonneau. Also , does anyone have an extang solid for a Frontier (6ft bed '08), or even a Trifecta?? I'm really on the fence about what to buy hard or soft , roll or fold, they all have their goods and bads..

I have a trifecta and like it. When I bought it in 05 there wasn't many options but it's been a good tonneau and never had any problems with it.
I have the Bakflip and yes, most of the time I do have to go through all that BS in order to close the tailgate. Sometimes I can close it w/out a hastle if the weather is just right. The rubber seal that covers part of the tailgate gets in the way.
Ok, to speak to the Bakflip...here is my experience and commentary...free of charge.
I like the design and flexibility that the Bak cover provides. Easily removable, somewhat convienient to operate (no you cant close the bed with the last flap locked down. You have to raise it, close the bed then close the bakflip.) But it's more secure than vinyl and handier than a solid cover.

In Nova Scotia where I live the weather is never just right... that sounds like a bit of a pain. Would I be correct in saying you can open and close the tailgate with many other tonneaus in the closed position without having to open them???
I have the Trifecta and have zero complaints. The way that it is designed requires that you close the tailgate after the cover has been closed. It is incredibly easy remove and put back on too.

When its freezing here the rubber seal on the Bak and tailgate freeze together. I have to put a shoulder bump on the tailgate to break it loose, if that doesnt do it then I run my finger between the the seal and gate to start freeing it up then push and pull on the tailgate. I'll put some WD40 on it when I remember and that helps for a while..
right now I think I am down to either an access cover or an extang (either trifecta or solid if they make one). Decision now is mount rails inside the bed (access tonneau) and have a roll up which doesn't remove but takes up a small amount of space ,

or have an easy to remove tri fold (extang), which takes up more bed space folded but removes easily with nothing left in the box to take up room
