I'm getting ready to replace my original bfg long trails that came on my 07 cc le. By the way they have almost 70k on them. I want to go with the bfg at's but because of the price I am looking at the nitto terra grapplers. Whats your opinion on these tires or I would take a advice on a different tire on the at level that looks good and lasts. Also how much bigger can I go if I'm at stock height with out having to lift or cut anything?

Tons of threads on tires, just search.

BFG ATs are going to be heavy and won't help you with gas mileage, do you do a decent amount of offroad?

A lot of LE guys go to 265/70/17 which increases the height of the tire and helps fill the wheel well a little. Note that this may throw off your speedo by about 2%.

When the time comes I think that I will go with the Firestone Destination ATs. Lots of favorable reviews and they are recommended by many members on the site. Either way, good luck.

I did a search ! And after reading through thirty post about 2wd and lift applications that were poorly titled I decided to post a thread on so I didn't have to read 250 post to get my answer. This post was more about the make/model of a tire than size. My driving is 99% HWY and I just want something that looks good and has good treadwear. I know the BFG AT will last, I have put 75k on a set. I have also owned a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers but only put 6k on them before trading for my Frontier. Does anyone have any experience with the Nitto on a Frontier? I also have run a set Destinations on a company truck and they were a definitley a decent tire. Thanks for the help and I am still open to tire brand reccomendations

another for the firestone destination at's. ive got about 42k on mine, and they can't be much more than half dead. they gripped the crap out of the moab rocks and didnt add one decibel of road noise to my highway commute. would definitely buy again.

general grabber at2s are great tires for the money. They are quiet on the highway and are cheap. Ive had mine through snow, mud, and sand and they do great in all. Ive got almost 23k on mine and they look to have about 50% tread left. Not to mention they are much cheaper than most at tries.

If nearly all highway, I'd go with new Michelin in stock size. Probably give you best mileage, ride, and handling - also probably $200+ each but worth it.

I just replaced my long trails with Yokohama Geolander AT-S ... way less expensive than the BFG ATs. I went with 275/65-17s to get a little more size without lift, rub, cut, etc. With a whopping 200 miles on them I'm still happy :)

Quiet, handled lots of rain this week without drama.

I am kind of in the same boat as you. I have 56K on my'05 LE with the original Grabber tires. Yes they definately suck. Horrible in winter conditions. I want to get them replaced this fall as I can't get through another winter with them.

Anyway, I've been debating on what tire to go with. I'm actually thinking of going with 265/70 17's instead of the stock 265/65 17's. My speedo has always been off since the day I bought my truck. When it reads 73mph I'm actaully only going 70mph. So this means I really only have about 54k miles on my truck. My thought was that going a little taller on the tire would fix my speedo. I assume I'll have enough room in the wheel well.

Secondly, I don't do any hard core off road other than gravel backroads with occasional mud puddles so no need for huge treaded grapplers or anything like that. I am however open to an AT tire rather than a highway tire.

I've kind of been thinking maybe the Geolander AT/S, Grabber AT2, Destination A/T, or maybe even Dualer A/T Revo2 depending on price.

Or maybe something you guys recommendation?

BTW, How reliable are tire rack reviews? Heres a rundown of AT tires in my size

I've been really impressed with mine. They are quiet and do very well in the rain and snow. However, where they have really impressed me is off the pavement. They do amazingly well for an A/T and have really strong side walls (for an A/T).

I've also ran Revos in the past and loved them. I also ran BFG A/Ts and didn't care for them. They didn't do very well in the rain and they were tough to keep in balance.

Gotta agree with the Firestone A/T fans. Bought my current set last year with 35K on the nasty OEM Generals. This is the 2nd set of A/T's that I have bought, had them on my 96 Sonoma before I got the Frontier.

They did great in the heavy snow we had here over the winter, ans are just as good in the rain, and very quiet. Very good off road in light mud and sand. I got them on sale - buy 3 get one free. After I talked them down on some of the costs, saved around $250 on the set, so watch for that sale!
