Hey all,
New to the site. I have a 2000 xe king cab 4x4 v6. I love this truck despite its astounding appetite for fuel, and plan to run it into the ground.
It had just rolled 155000 km and I decided it was probably time to get the timing belt changed. I can handle some mechanical stuff like shocks, oil & other basic tasks, but decided the timing belt was above my skill level so brought it into the dealer. It wasn't too bad for price ($700 Canadian for the timimg belt, water pump, and seals tax included) considering this was the first time I've spent any money at the dealer for this truck in about 4 years.
That being said, they didn't change the tensioner. I asked them why, and they told me the tensioner was fine and probably good for 300, 000 km. Should I be pissed or is there some truth to this? Right now I'm feeling a little upset that they just didn't to it while the truck was stripped down.
Thanks for any insight you folks can provide.
