I came here to get some info on Frontier trucks...like things to look for when buying a 2nd gen. Not an owner yet.

Looking at a couple of 4x4 Crew Cabs (currently a 2007 Nismo and a 2010 LE).

I plan to do some hauling, camping, forest roads, snow days and maybe some light towing. The truck will also be regularly driven by my 17 year old.

Look to the General Forum for a longer post asking for particular things to look for on these above the 100,000 mile mark!

In the past I have owned and 'wheeled a 1970 Jeep CJ5, 1992 Ford Explorer (my dad's), 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Have also owned a 2005 GMC Canyon but never took it off road.

I'm still fairly new to these trucks aswell but I did some research before I purchased mine. If you're looking for an older 2nd Gen check the radiator/cap. I do know some of the older ones had failures where the coolant would leak into the transmission. I think this was fixed after 2010. So that would be something to check for Just look for gunk in the radiator or around the cap. Also maybe check the real axle seals, They sometimes tend to leak if the vent gets clogged.
