Hi guys,

Got the 98' 4x4, 5 speed restore project on the go. Starter is sticking, has to be dropped.

Wondering if it's 2 bolt, the 3.3's are but we be in the 4 banger bar here and the 2.4 looks different.

Looks like the front passenger wheel comes off for better access from the bottom, definitely a tight spot when a fella gets jammed under there.

Tip, tricks, special bent tools needed to get up in there and reach ? Harness hard to disconnect ? -- things like that to get 'er done.

Any help appreciated.

I've R&R'd the starter twice on my 1998 2.4 Frontier, but mine is 2WD 5-speed. And at least 6 years ago.

You already know to disconnect the battery negative terminal first.

My hint is that a 14mm gear wrench will come in handy. I think I took off the passenger side under-fender cover to actually wiggle the starter out of there, it's a tight fit.
