My 2005 Nismo 4x4 Frontier has recently begun manking a "tap-tap-tap" sound between 0-15 mph (only when moving) when in 2wd. This sounds like its coming from the front axle. Above 15mph the sound becomes less audible, but I believe the vibration is still there. If I engage 4wd, the sound goes away completely. I did some searching here with various synonyms of "noise", but couldn't find an answer. Any ideas of what this might be? Thanks!

My '06 NISMO did the same thing. U-joints on front drive shaft were shot.

yeah deff check your u-joints. My 05 Nismo was doing the exact same thing....replaced u joints on front drive shaft, problem solved.
