i hurd bad things about those ones.. i gess that since the resistace is only on one side it will **** you tailgate ever so slightly and will cause ware on your factory hinges, and i herd that some people have had trobble closing there tail gates were they have to realy slam it to get it to fit...

I have one and like it.
The only thing that seems to happen to all of them is the retaining clip at the top (the one that keeps bolt from coming out the "eye hole" on the strut) comes of the strut.

One little zip tie fixed that for me and others.

Nothing else negative to report from me.

I like the Titan hinge idea but is it just the hinge or is it something else inside the tailgate itself? Possibly some kind of torsion spring like a garage door opener?

Or here's an idea: HEY NISSAN, lighten up the tailgate!
They must weight like 40-50lbs.

i took a look at the titans hinge and its definatly in the hinge... there is no way there is something in the tail gate....

you think it may be in the pivot point?

idk chances of that are going to be small. not that it cant happen or anything, but since its at the pivot point whatever they have slowing the gate from falling would have to be very stout. and i dont see something at that spot being able to slow down the gate like it does.
