Jus tryin to get some opinions. Im gettin ready to install my audiobahn system in my frontier as soon as my subs are in stock at the website i was lookin at. Im puttin a pair of 12" audibahn eternal series subs (1100w rms a piece), i also have a a1500hct amp that puts 2000w @ 1 ohm ((tryin to make someone throw up with tis)) and to help with the power handeling, i have a acap651n (12 farad compacitor). Im gona compleatly redo the space that i have behind the seats (which involves removing the jump seat) Im gona be replacing the factory door speakers with 100w 3-ways and i am building 6X9's into the tops of my sub enclosures. I will post pics when i get this don but im not planing on doing it until the spring when it warms up some. I hope that it all truns out as well. The only thing that i am worried about is weather or not the factory altenator will beable to handle the power consumption. Im alredy going to replace the battery when i do it. im lookin at an optima battery.

i'm not trying to flame or be derrogatory in any way but i was just wondering why people do this to their vehicles?? in my opinion its very very annoying and just a waste of money. most of the time when people do this its sounds horrible and the vehicle just sounds like a rattle trap even new vehicles. i can understand putting a better sounding stereo system in you truck to get clearer highs and lows but when you a bass setup like that all you hear is bass why not put the money into the truck to make it fast or very offroad capable? i know different people like different things so just wondering? thnx!

I cant see it as a waste of time or money (honestly i will be spending alot of money on my frontier anyway). some people have their hobbies. one of mine just happens to be car sterios. Its actually more of a passion than a hobbie. About the sounding like a rattle trap thing, im goint go be putting a power swittch to my subs so they are not on all of the time (lets face it, 2000 watts of bass all the time will make you go deaf and it woudl really make the neighbors mad) i would turn it on for audio competitions and to show it off, thats about it. Besides the sterio, i am going to be doing other work to my frontier. new intake, exaust, some work to the supercharger... the list goes on and on. The reason that i am doing the sterio first is because that is the part that i know the most about right now . im still learnig about the supercharger and possible engine mods that i can do.

The older we get the less we remember how it was being young.
I was 17 when I pawned my class ring for two 10" subs in a box with 5 1/4" and tweeters.
I had a POS Sherwood amp and it was in my trunk. I had to put the seats down to hear the highs. It sounded like crap but I loved it. I had 7 or 8 different stereo's after that and spent as much as 7000 dollars on my stereo. Now I'm alot older (32) and have no desire to even spend a cent on a stereo system. I am totally sick of all that. But I do understand why you love it. If your like me you love to see old people roll up there windows when you pull up to them.

If I were to give you any advice it would be to build your system slow. Get as high quality components as possible. If Bass really matters, start with a nice amp, subs, and a box.
I really like Xtant because of the 3 and 5 channel amps they offer (very pricey though but stable at 2 0hms)
Maybe Memphis, Alpine or JVC would be a good choice as well. You could get a nice 2 channel amp and power your sub at first then later use that to power the interior speakers and get a bigger amp for the sub.
Remeber if you want it to sound good you have to create a front stage, meaning get some 2 ways (6 1/2) in the door and tweeters in the pillars or upper door. you still can put some midways in the back but don't waste to much money on those. They should be smaller and have less power going to them. This will create a better front stage.
As far as the Bass go as big as you want, just do it right the first time and save yourself money in the long run. The upper end Amps are more conservative with their power ratings and the cheaper amps will claim 1000's of watts but will burn up pretty quick.
I still get sick thinking about all the money I poured into my car just to rip it out because it sounded like crap.

Good luck.

I remember those days...had a sentra...spent hours making my sub box to fit 2 10" kicker subs...had a clarion deck...3ways in the door...I loved it too...now just 10 years later, I can't stand it when people's music is so loud I can hear my own!

But yeah, don't spend too much money on your stereo (esp subs), in a few years you'll wish you saved it so you can buy your next car (faster and/or more expensive), high def TV, and ...at least that's where I am...

Then again, I know a few folks around my age that are still into breaking windows and setting off alarms...so go figure :)

Well, I am 38, and my truck is a Road Trip vehicle mainly. So I did splurge on sound system:

Kenwood Excelon KDC-X889 with IPOD attachment in glove box and Sirious hookup.
Fronts: JL Audio XR650-Csi components
Rears: JL Audio XR650-Cxi coaxials
AMP: Diamond Audio D6 600.4

Subs:(2) JL Audio 8W3v2-D4's run by a Diamond Audio D6 1000.1 (the subs are 125W each @ 4 ohms). Enough to give good bass, not enough to be annoying. I agree, I want clear music, I don't wanna sound like I grew up in the hood. Usually that bloody, muddy sounding of subs if from people who 1. Bouight cheap crap.... 2. Had no clue how music is supposed to sound.

I did DYNAMAT the doors, which made a huge difference in sound quality.

I am very happy with it. Buying everything off ebay saved me almost $2G, and it sounds phenomenal.
