How many of you have switched to synthetic oil? I contacted Nissan support and all they did was quote the manual with the recommended oil (i.e. according to the 2009 Nissan Frontier owner's manual, Nissan recommends using Engine oil with API Certification Mark *1 Viscosity SAE 5W-30). Besides the benefit of extended life, have you seen better performance, better mileage, less problems? My Frontier has 5000 miles so it's the right time to switch I think (break in period is over). I look forward to your insight!

Go for it as you have nothing to lose. I've been using syn (M1 0W-30) since the day the wheels first hit my driveway (well, almost...) ; you don't have to wait a certain mileage to start .

I agree, that many threads on the same thing is pretty wack.

I think this is the reason why all of these threads on "Syn Oil", "lifts" and "wheels" get the "Why Don't You Just SEARCH" response from a lot of people.

Maybe they can build something into the sign-in system in which makes a first time user use the search function atleast 3 times before they can post. This would atleast give most people an introduction to the SEARCH function and hopefully they will learn how to use it.

That is the best idea ever! In addition incorporate a test that they must ace. Topics include:
-airbag flashing light reset
-maximum size of tires that will fit before and after a lift
-lift options available

Searching is always a good idea but since this thing is already rolling. My next oil change will be Mobile1 5W-30 full syn.

everytime someones asks a question, that most of us know there is posts for, someone always has to be a smart a** about it. I think it great that you listed the posts to help the guy out, no need to get all butt hurt because you think the guy should of searched first, after all, the title area mentioned syntheic oil and most of us clicked on it and read it hoping to find something new to learn about. If your tired of people asking questions about something you think you know the answer to, i suggest you dont even read the guys post to begin with much less answer it. There is plenty of people here that will help a person out without having to get uptight about it.
That being said, i agree that one should always try the search first, even though i wish him or her good luck with it.

Are you for real. Honestly, that is the best you could come up with? This thread has been around for over a month.

Can you honestly say the OP didn't get the point thou?

Also, does this mean that CF should elimate the SEARCH function and only have a NEW THREAD button? Oil (syn and dino), lifts, mpg, etc... have been posted about to death. Now I can understand if the OP did a search and linked to some topics on the subject and still had questions, that would be fine but the fact that there was no proof of any search is what gets most people.

I assume you only read the first post and then only the first half, or did you just jump to SEARCH and get pissed and write this post?

If you did read to the second post where I linked to a bunch of threads on this same topic, then I just don't understand your reason for this post.

I have to ask this question now thou, does anyone actually read old threads/posts?

Did the OP read any of the ones linked?

See, that is another issue I have been noticing. There is so much BS in the posts that it makes it hard to read thru them. This is why people including yourself find it hard to read the complete thread.

I think we should make an effort to cut down on the BS and keep the topics on track so that they are more easily readable and searchable. This would help cut down on the people that get discouraged (pissed) and then give up.

I still have to wonder thou, what did the OP finally decide on his oil delema? Syn or not? Change interval? What about filter choice?

A lot of guys are running fully synthetic oil in the nissans, it works a TON better than conventional, i noticed a big difference when i switched over
Interesting aside, the Lube-X i went to said that their service manuals called for fully synthetic oil in the diffs, transfer case, etc.
