Hi folks. I was in the midst of my routine maintenance and it was my first diy for my 2014 Frontier 4x4 SV. I have my maintenance done professionally while my vehicles are under warranty to avoid any issues with maintenance records etc. anyway my truck finally made it past the warranty threshold and I did my first drain and fill and ran into a problem. While at the auto parts store I did the normal "standing in the isle" research on my phone as to transmission fluid type. I came across a forum string on this site that said Matic J is what the 05+ Frontiers take. They all agreed and mentioned the different manufacturers that produce Matic J equivalent fluid. I decided on brand and now I'm two quarts filled of the 4 quarts removed and I stopped. I had a weird feeling and when I checked it appears that my transmission in fact takes Mastic S. Of course that is the superseded fluid that all the older Matic J vehicles can use in the place of J. I've also learned that the S came out for the Infinity 7 speed transmission primarily. Question is am I good to continue with adding the Matic J? Is it backwards compatible for my trucks tranny or have I screwed up?
