I went into the dealer for them to program my wheel sensors (they neglected to do when I got my new wheels on the other day; the tech broke one so I had a new one) SO I returned it to stock before going. All was fine. The dealer did their thing. I (stupidly) decided to tune the truck back to 87 tune before heading home with the SC Coretex. Then, the exact same thing happened to me as described in this thread --> http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/...-recovery-truck-wont-start-please-help-52959/. SC is being totally cool, but I got stranded, had to leave my truck and now still have to go back and remedy it.

Just got back from spending 2 hours working on doing the "reset steps" NOTHING. Probably looking at doing the f'ing remove the ECU deal and ship it out to SC. This sux. These are the things that will certainly make me think twice about buying this type of product again.

so Klee, you were able to tune to stock afterwards? Right now if I turn the key on, the fan instantly goes on and I can turn the ignition over, but no start. I don't think it goes on during the ACC but then next click up. I have not used the COretex since this afternoon. It constantly says "Recovery mode is active.....will return the vehicle to stock.." Did yours do that?

Can the dealer 'flash' the truck' to stock? or would that be worse?

That sucks man! I think if the dealer flashes it to stock though, the cortex wont be compatible with it anymore.

WoooHooo!! Got it going! I had a brainstorm last night. Nothing big, but my battery had acted weak yesterday after this. I had read about people having battery/coretex issues. So this morning I had my wife drive me over. I hooked up the jumper cables to the car and my truck. Plugged in the programmer and it read: "recovery mode active...returning to stock".. Well the file progress started right at 88% and kept going to 100% and then said successful, turn off ignition and hit Ok. I did that, then started the truck! The weak battery just didn't have enough juice for the tuner to finish its process so having my wife's car hooked up with jumper cables gave it the extra it needed. Now I NEED a new battery!! Sooo.. NOTE TO SELF: Dont' tune when not home, don't tune if you think your battery may even be the slightest weak! BTW, Superchips was totally cool to deal with for all of this and Travis is a great guy to work with! Thanks everyone for the help.

yeah no doubt, especially just after I told them they didn't know what they were doing when it came to the tire sensors. I had to go to them 5 times to get the wheels put on and the tire pressure sensors put in and 'paired' with the truck because the tech was a meatball and didn't know what he was doing.

And Ive Said It Before, We Have To Have Acharger Hooked To Jaguars Every Time We're Flashing A Ecu. Same Applies To Tuners(except Uprev, You Flip Between Tunes With The Cruise Buttons In Seconds, And Can Do It Driving) If The Voltage Drops Below 12.2 During Reflashes The Ecu Locks Up And Youre Stuck

I'm glad that it was just the battery. Now back to work and finnish up that IMS! :)
The only issue currently I have right now is I need to measure all the dimensions, and I hate taking it off and installing due to the issues people suffered by dropping stuff down into the engine. It just sorta makes me nervous even though I am super careful with it.

Thanks Brutal, I will keep that in mind for next time. I do have a charger I could hook up in my garage during programming.

Glad you got things working again!

Reminds me of when me and my friends decided to take his mustang out on some deserted farmland roads for some quarter mile runs and tuning. The same thing happened...battery started dying while we were swapping tunes, and we found ourselves pushing the car 2+ miles down a pitch black farm-road at 11pm, in the middle of no where. Now, I will never mess with tuning unless i'm in my driveway.

Yikes that would not be fun!

Anyone else notice that the truck seems to run smoother and the idle is smoother WITHOUT the tuning installed? My truck seems to run really smooth now that it is back to stock. Hmm.

Well I went to Wallyworld and bought the 3 year free replacement battery. Everstart MAXX 24FN 875 cranking amps, compared to the 550 of the stock battery. Should be good to go. Have to wait back to hear from SUperchips if my programmer can be used or not. I updated it, which sends files to them.

Yes! I decided to go back to the stock tune about 3 weeks ago after I tried the Volant CAI and removed it.. Just to get everything back on an even keel, I returned everything to stock, and noticed how much smoother it ran. Also, after the computer settled down, my mileage seemed to be about the same as with the 87 tune. And, I *think* my truck doesn't have the WOT restriction in stock either -- whenever I do apply an advanced tune from stock, the options for advanced show 'Speed Limiter: Enabled Rev Limiter: Enabled WOT Restriction: Disabled' -- I think I had read that if it is enabled with the stock tune, it shows that when you get to that screen.

Thanks RickNY.

I just got the go-ahead that the programmer is good to go and I again can use the tunes, but in light of the smoother running engine during stock tune, Im not even sure I want to use the SC tunes. LOL I'm sure I will, but after the possibility of being stranded with a dead truck, it sure makes you think twice.
