i just installed a k&n intake on my 05 frontier. the only thing i dont like is the big gap left where the stock intake covered up with the nissan logo. was wondering if anybody has modified it to go back on the fill in the gap and if so do you have pics of what you did to do so.

I don't think that anyone has done this yet from the posts I have seen. Most want to
keep the stock intake in case of warranty work so they do not want to destroy it making it fit the CAI system they are using.

I know that is how I feel about it.

If you do want to cut the logo from the old intake, try a dremel of like tool, cut along the line of the piece with the logo on it.

I was thinking of doing both the logo piece and the stock intake piece, so I could put it back on as a separate piece.

You sure it's not just mold space to lighten the piece?

What would duct work of any type be used for?

And, since you took it off to put on your K&N, what has changed that is bad?

I've had my K&N on for over 2 months and all I get is goodness.

all the duct work is for air to run threw. what i was trying to do was take it apart just to have to top piece with the nissan logo on it to fill in the big cap left when i put on the k&n cause trust me i love my intake and with the tbs it gives it one mean sound when you get on it.

If you look at the stock intake, the crankcase breather tube connects to the upper right hand side of the piece with the logo. The space acts as a baffle to quiet the intate noise. Cutting it off the stock intake will pretty much destroy the stock intake. Your best bet would be to hit the junk yards and get the intake piece off a trashed Frontier (actually the intake from the Pathfinder and Xterra will probably work as well) and then hack up that one!

Now you have an even better reason to go hit the junkyards!
