For the July 4th weekend i am heading down to Carolina Beach. with this being my first truck and my first time on the beach with the Frontier.. How will a stock 09 4x4 frontier do? i searched the topic and saw that lowering the tire pressure is a good idea. Do you guys have any other advice? Will the truck manage? help is appreciated

1. Less skinny pedal = less chance of being buried.
2. Try not to stop or lose momentum.
3. If you think you are stuck, stop trying to get out, you could make it worse by rocking.
4. Water will sometimes aid traction. A cooler full of water poured slowly over a wheel might get you unstuck.

walk the beach and find the hard pack and stay on it as best you can. drop the PSI in the tires and have a way to refill them when you leave the beach. a shovel is your friend as is some short boards to wedge under the tires to get you back on top if you do start to sink in.

do yourself a favor and drive 10min farther and go to ft fisher. About 4times as much beach to go on and its cheaper. Btw your truck will do fine

If you go to Ft. Fisher I'd highly recommend airing down. I went there yesterday with my tires aired up and almost got stuck twice in a lighter first gen. Some places the sand was so deep I had to put it in 4low just to plow through everything.

I am from Carolina Beach and have been out there hundreds of times. Buy your pass to go out on beach at the Walgreens as soon as you come off the bridge. The north end has about 3 cars deep the whole stretch this year(so get there very early if you want a front row) It will be worse on a holiday. If you let your tires down to 20 psi and Lock it in 4 low you shouldn't have the first problem. CB is a real transmission getter so 4 low is crucial to keep your trans out of a bind. The south end (Fortfisher) has half the traffic and 10 times the beach. The sand can get really soft on that end so a little more caution should be used. The south end also requires a different permit than the North end.I would deflate down to 15psi on that end.The south end gets my vote hands down. More room, less people= more room to play for the family and friends and the TRUCK.When you get there go to the boardwalk and get a Britts donut. They finished 2nd in the world for best donut and they are atleast 5 times better than Krispy Kreme! PM me if you need to know anything about the area

Just a thought about re airing your tires after you leave. I bought a Slime air pump kit from walmart for 50 bucks. It will partly pay for its self just on this weekend. Just about every gas station sells air, but there will be a line to get air and it will not be cheap. It also will save your butt one day down the road! Here is a link to what I have and I love it.Its small and powerful.
