Howdy all,

I have just purchased a new double din dvd/gps head unit from Canada which the supplier has just informed me is wired to suit the latest model Frontier.

I would like to know if this same unit will fit a 2008/09 Navara i.e. is the wiring the same or am i going to need an harness adaptor or, maybe, break out the soldering iron?

Products - Navitouch

I know it pysically fits becasue a friend has the same unit and it is fantastic. Does everything.

the info on the site says
Universal Harness and Plug
so im pretty sure you will need the wiring adapter. if all else fails shoot them an email and ask or just wait for it to arrive. if you need the adapter im sure you can find one locally. if not the internet is your friend.

Good pick up. The supplier is adamant the unit will fit a Frontier so it 'should' fit a Navara. Like you suggested, if all else fails i'll pop down to the local stereo joint a pick up a harness adapter.

He's chucking in a reversing camera now. Bless him.

:fantastic:

it should fit but you would still need the wiring adapter. also, you will probably need the mounting kit. i will assume the 09 Navara's are like the 09 frontiers where it has the radio made into the dash. if so you will need to buy the mounting kit. havent looked at the inside of Navara's in a while so i dont know.

Thankfully, no kit needed for this unit. That's why i went for this one (among other things). The dimensions are more or less the same as the original unit. All that needs to be done is to drill four new holes in the original brackets and it's done.

yep, just looked up the 09 Navara and you still have the old style dash. it should fit without a mounting kit with little problems. the only thing i could think of that might be an issue is the fill around the radio but it should be fine. other than that you will probably still need the wiring harness. that shouldnt be more than 10-15 pounds(if your in the UK). wonder why the dash didnt change like the Frontier did?

OH and BTW, i hate you. i wish we had the diesel here in the states. i love my truck but would trade it in a heart beat for the same model with the diesel.

The guy i know that has one install said there will be a a small gap on at the base of the unit. About 1mm (1/16). But he filled his in with a black piece of something so you can't see it. I'll do the same.

I considered the petrol before deciding on the diesel. This is my first diesel and i'm fairly impressed. We need the grunt to pull a 1.5T caravan through the hills and gorges of the Kimberley's in the North of Western Australia. So there was no choice really. Don't they import turbo diesels in to the USA.

nope, no diesels in the Frontiers here. wish they would, i would be on the waiting list. we dont have any small diesels here other than things like the VW TDi. i believe toyota use to import the hilux but they were rare. the only way to get a diesel truck here is to get a full size and has to be 3/4 ton or larger.
