So, I have a question for you stereo heads. I have a single din stereo that, while driving down our county roads, will keep shutting off and turning on when I hit potholes or washboard.

All of the connections are good and I have narrowed it down to the detachable faceplate being loose. I have found that if you just touch it, it will lose contact with the main stereo. Is there a way to fix this? I don't see any screws on the back of the faceplate to tighten things up.

Thanks for any help!

Sounds like a loose wire somewhere in the install.

check the antenna/ground wire. I had a loose connection between my aftermarket radio and FM/AM antenna connection that was causing this.

I think the roads I live on just make it worse. As far as loose wires, I have gone over all the connections and everything is good. You can sit in the truck with the stereo playing (truck not moving) and bump the faceplate with your finger and the stereo will shut off and come back on.

I haven't called Sony, might have to try that as well.

it was never really an issue when i had it, every once in a long while i'd hit a huge pot whole or w/e and it'd do it but usually not

LOL, they don't that's why I have Sirius. The only spoons I play are at the dinner table.

Seriously, I think this is the first vehicle I have owned that the stereo worked and I just couldn't leave well enough alone, lol:thatswck: Of course, most of my other vehicles had V8's so who needs a stereo?

i forget the model # but it's like 4 years old. it wasn't the real popular one that had the flat outside screen with the EQ display that flipped open. this was just a motorized face, and i believe there wasn't any ribbon, i can't remember exactly how it worked
