Hi all - I have 2 questions..

1. I brilliantly broke one of the step rails (nerf bars) off my '05. I backed over a rock in the southern Utah desert which decided to stand up on end. Cool way to be on 3 tires. Anyway, the 6 bolts or studs which come directly out of the body to hold the suckers on are un-brilliantly engineered to be as difficult as possible to replace when you shear off 4 of them. Are there any that actually bolt into the frame that I could replace this with?

2. I need to pull a trailer. Standard 4-pin hook up on trailer end. All I can find on the truck are these two plugs. Is this a Nissan thing which I can get an adapter for, are they (or at least one of them) actually for trailer lights, or do I need to go have something installed? I tried to find an adapter but nothing seems to be this actual shape.

Thanks!

Sandy

If you plan on spending time off road, through away your nerf bars and get some sliders. Mine are welded on and those bolts don't matter anymore.

Rock Sliders, Rocker Protection Nerf Bars

The most vulnerable area on any vehicle while off-roading is the rocker panels. The factory tube nerf bars on the Xterra look nice, but they are made of a thin material and will quickly buckle with even a moderate blow while driving offroad, so many of us have installed sliders

depending on design, many of the rock sliders also function as nerf bars.

There are a couple differant vendors that make them, the ones pictured are not from my truck they are from the Schrockworks website. But they are similar to the custom made ones on my truck.

Here's a picture of mine

if you search for sliders in the forum you should find a few threads on them

I have a trailer and I got plug when I got my hitch. But for some reason, my driving lights don't work on the trailer. Brakes, and turnsignals work, but not driving lights. So when I'm driving at night there is no lights on the trailer until I hit the brakes or turn. Is there something in the curticey Nissan kit has that I don't?

did your kit come with a relay that you had to plug in on the passenger side of the cabin up under the glove box?
