hey guys i need some help , i have alot of play in my steering before it actually starts to turn the wheel , here is a video

i need to figure out if this is normal for a 1st gen , thanks for the help
by the way new box from the dealer $2k :thatswck:

but napa carries re-built for $300 thank goodness

well got it figured out
that amount of slop in steering is not normal

yeah , on the 98-04 i guess they use an allan wrench the 97 and down use a flat head screw driver

i will be getting a new box though cause when i adjusted the screw metal shaving came out along with power steering fluid , so im not gonna chance it

alright so i got the steering box replaced
before i took it in for the core i opened it up and found the gears wore down and the fluid was metallic gray

here is the play with the new gear box installed , huge difference and the drive is sooooo much better

huh must have deleted them , but with the truck off and steering wheel locked i could turn the steering shaft about 1/2 a turn in both directions
