This will be a little long. . .Okay, as some of you may know, I have located a dealership that has the EXACT truck I'm looking for down to the color and options. Recap below:
Nissan Frontier NISMO King Cab
-Exterior: Storm Gray
-Interior: Charcoal
-Transmission: Automatic
-Drivetrain: 4x4
-NISMO Utility Bed Package
-NISMO/LE Audio Package
-NISMO/LE Traction Package
I built it on nissanusa.com and then located it by the dealer closest to my ZIP code. I e-mailed the dealership to ask if they still had the truck and I got this response back:
"Rodney, The 2006 Nissan Frontier King Cab 4.4 VIN#1N6AD06W36C425804 Still Available in stock. We need your business. Please stop by for a test drive. SALE PRICE $24,847.00 AFTER REBATE."
First thought? Holy shiet! Why? He's already giving me a price of $24,847.00 and I didn't even have to talk to the guy!! The listed price of the truck is $27,698.00. Edmunds.com has the Customer Cash Adjusted True Market Value of the exact model truck with all the options I want as $24,975.00 (this includes a $650 Destination and Handling fee and the $1000 Frontier Rebate). So the price he quoted me is already below the TMV of what others are paying in my area.
So next, I ask him what the build date was, the date it arrived at the dealership, and the current mileage. He responds with:
Build Date: January 2006
Date Arrived Dealership: February 2, 2006
Current Mileage: 10 miles
I also had him confirm that everything the website stated the truck had -- the truck actually HAD (which it did). He also said they installed window tint and wheel locks. I ask him, "Also, is that price you quoted me including Destination and Handling fees, and ALL other miscellaneous fees that can possibly be thrown in, with the exception of tax, tag, title and license?" His response to this was:
"Sale price After rebate $24847+ $99.50 Doc Fee . This price is not includes tag ,title and taxes."
Now, he is getting back to me through e-mail almost immediately. I guess he is the "Internet dealer" at that place. It even has in red in his signature, "You MUST work through the internet department to receive quoted pricing. This Document MUST be presented upon arrival to receive quoted pricing."
So everything to me seems too good to be true. He sounds like he/the dealership are hurting right now. His first e-mail started with "We need your business," and each e-mail had "Please call to setup an appointment to test drive the vehicle."
You may be asking yourself, why haven't you actually gone to the dealership to look at the truck? Well, I'm trying to get a baseline for where I'm at, and make them tell me facts that I want to read ON PAPER so they can't dick me around when I get there. I want to make him tell me that that price includes destination and handling, and that the tint and wheel locks are rolled into that price and not something they will say is extra.
What do you guys think about the $24,847.00 for a KC NISMO 4x4 w/ all the options above. I have no idea how accurate Edmunds TMV is, but if it is accurate, I already have a deal. And there's still room for me to knock that down more! Should I? If so, how should I go about doing it? I haven't even told him I am Active Duty military, so that should be at least another $500 off just like that, making it $24,347.
I don't know how to feel because I don't know if this really is a good deal or not. My gut feeling tells me its not bad at all.
