Squeaky body mounts

24019 Views 20 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  JJsFrontier
Hey guys,
finally found where all my sound was coming from. My body mounts up front make a ton of noise while driving. The front 2, i would say that it is because of my bumper but the noise was present long before the bumper came around.

Any suggestions on what to do to get the to stop squeaking? I tried pressure washing and pb blaster but it only remedies it for a little while. Should i take them off and clean?

Or buy new ones?

Or make my own?

Thanks!

My drivers side front one has been doing this ever since RC back in Oct. It was doing it a bit before that, but not as often. I did the same as you, silicone spray lube, washed it, etc. It never did it when it was raining or wet out because it would stay lubed. Now, this isn't a permanent fix, and I have no idea why it works for me, at least so far, but go out and loosen the bolts. Don't remove them, just break them loose and back them off a quarter inch or so. Then re-tighten them snugly, not super stupid tight, just snug them up good. It's basically cured mine. Still does it every once in a while but not nearly as bad. My theory is that I tweaked them when I went wheeling and when I loosened the bolt it relived the stress. Hope that made at least a shred of sense.

That worked! Thanks west! I just loosened the 18mm bolt underneath the mount and let then went to lunch, came back and tightened it up, and bam! no more squeak!
was this a creaky noise sound coming from all over the bottom..or so it seemed? where are these mounts located?

Yours is an 18mm bolt? Huh, mine takes a 17mm socket. Weird, maybe they're different between the KC and CC. Regardless, glad it worked! Of note, you might have to do this periodically, especially with temperature swings. This is just what I've noticed. Mine started doing it again yesterday after about a month of squeak free. Loosened it, let it set for a minute, rocked the truck, no squeak, re-tightened and good.

Mine was a definite squeak, not a creaking, and it was located in the front. I figured out what it was by rocking the truck. There are I believe 6 body mounts.

PART #: 95112, 95122N and 95130X are the body mount locations in that image. When looking up from the bottom of the truck, you'll see a bolt head. That bolt goes through a rubber bushing. The above pic is for a KC but the CC mounts should be in or around the same locations.

Thanks, I will check it out this weekend, I am definitely getting squeaks/creaks from somewhere and I already did the leaf springs with the poly grease (tsb on this), so this is my next guess.
I've been getting a squeak form the front of the truck for the past few months as well. I'll check out my body mounts when I get the chance.

Can you find me this for my 1st gen? '02 KA
Or PM me the link?

It seems it was coming from the underside of the mount. But it was so violent that it caused the whole mount to vibrate when rocked. Mine was initially a creak, I thought it was something with the steering since I heard it in the cab only while in a turn. I loosened it and it stopped.

But today (the truck has been sitting for a week or so), there was a good squeak to it. Like more high pitched and worse. Again I loosened up the 18mm bolt and gave the truck a good rock. Then I tightened it back up and no more noise!

When I get home I will be removing this particular mount and cleaning it good and greasing. But for now the loosening and tightening works.

Here is the mount, easy to get to for me

After doing my 2" DIY body lift, I had a creak/squeak noise aswell. Thanks to this post, I now have no more creak/squeak.

THANKYOU
i have the squeak as well. is it easy to remove the front bumper? i havent done it before.
Yeah that worx. Thanx. I was looking for some kind of magazine or book like LMC for domestic trucks that have every replacement part
No you don't have to remove the bumper. Mine was off just cause I built a new one. You can get to it through the wheel wells, just have to undo the screws holding the front of the well on.
Well I didn't get a chance to check the body mounts yet, but I did grease my hood stops and that seems to have taken care of my squeak for now.
hood stops?
Rubber pieces on the underside of the hood. There is one on each corner. It is a semi normal problem, as my dealer has greases them before. I used some white lithium spray grease on the stops and on the body where the stops make contact.
Hi all... I realize this is an old thread but I want to give a big thanks to all who contributed! I have experienced this creaking/knocking coming from left front wheel well for about 6 months and it's been driving me batty! First mechanic replaced sway bars and recommended UCAs which I had replaced... (went with SPCs... nice!) and still heard the damn noise. Frustrated I turned to the forum... proceeded to follow the suggestions here, took off the wheel well, unbolted the body mount, lubed and sprayed and sho nuff no more squeaking!! Nice work y'all!

Mine were doing the same, They were WAY overtorqued. Silent since I retorqued them.

Any idea on a permanent fix? I have the same issue with my 2017 certified pre-owned Frontier.
