Coming up on 100K miles. Time to change the plugs.

Read some reports here that a few folks did NOT take of the intake manifold to get at the passenger side plugs. Can someone please elaborate? What kind of tools did you use. My first though was "no way they are coming out without removing the manifold"

Also went to courtesy parts.com plugs for my 05 are $10 each.
Noticed 07 + plugs are $25 each ! wow. Whats the difference?

I have taken my manifold off a couple of times and I have changed out my spark plugs and Offinthedistance's spark plugs. Anything is possible, but its really not that hard to remove and reinstall the intake manifold. I personally dont see how it can be done with the intake manifold on.

Few very important tips:

-disconnect battery
-put antiseize on new plugs and dielectric grease on the top of spark plug (where coil meets plug)
-vacuum out spark plug housing before new plugs are installed to make sure no dirt or grime falls into the heads.
-MOST IMPORTANT, DO NOT move the butterfly valve in the throttle body (ie. to clean it). If you do you WILL have to perform a relearn proceedure. I had to do it to Offinthedistance's truck cause we cleaned his TB.

Theres two bolts that hold each coil in the V/C. Remove coil, vacuum, remove plug, like stated above use antiseeze on the threads and dielectric grease on the top. The ones on the passenger side are alittle more difficult to get to but can be taken out without removing the intake, aleast on my 05 they were. I used the E3 plug ( E3.68 ) and I don't know if my plugs were that bad (90K) but I went from 350 miles to 420 to a tank.

Well you could take it either way, I don't remember what I was averaging when the truck was new but I know it wasn't 400+ miles to a tank. The truck had 90K miles on it when I changed them and I could really feel a difference from the old plugs. My only question is how long will they last.

I guess I don't get your humor because I learned math the right way.

$25X6=$150
$10X6=$60

$150-$60=$90

Now tell me again why this is so humorous?
Double meaning; one is subtraction, the other is whats different. He's only playing with you..

There has been a member on here that has done a spark plug change without removing the plenum. if i remember correctly he used a lot of patience with some universal joint sockets. good luck on the swap.

it would be easier to to remove it.
it may take a little longer but easier to access the area.

like, you can **** a girl without pulling her underwear off. but if you dont hold it off to the side the whole time your going to rub your dick raw.
NO man wants a dick rubbed raw because he didnt take two seconds to simply remove the panties and continue the ****.

Nissan website says platinum on 2010 and sure it did for 2009 also.
their site has had quite a few typos and misinformation over the years so i didn't even look at it since i've seen a few posts of people changing plugs in 07 and up frontiers (original owners) and them having iridium plugs or so they say. checked on all the part numbers through the years and the 05-06 used NGKs standard platinum plug but the 07 and up used what is referred to double platinum or laser platinum “Laser Series Platinum center electrode, and Platinum pad ground electrode" its supposed to be a 100k+ mile plug

you can get the iridium plugs from west marine for just under $10 per plug, ngk LFR5AIX-11 NGK SPARK PLUGS Spark Plug at West Marine
