So today me and a buddy decided to tackle the lift kit install. We got to the part where you gotta seperate the UCA and the spindle...and after hitting it and prying at it for a solid half hour this is all I have to show for it...

Pry bar slipped and I bashed my head on the UCA :censor:

Anyone know an easier way to seperate these gosh darn things!!!???

Loosen the nut on the ball joint for the UCA all the way to the end of the thread, spray some PB Blaster, WD40, whatever, with a big hammer hit the spindle near the ball joint, not the UCA, not the ball joint, the spindle. give it a good whack on one side then the other, should break free after a couple of good shots.

Dont hit the truck, dont let the hammer slip out of your hand, and quit using your head as a pry bar, LOL!!! Sorry about the head man, been there!

To Keep From Hitting Stuff You Dont Want To When Useing The Tried And True Hammer Method, Use 2 Ball Peen Or Sledge Hammers. 1 Right Where You Want To Hit, Then Hit The Back Of With The Other 1. This Will Keep From Tearing Up Crap Cause Your Aim Sux, Although From Looking At Your Head Maybe You Should Let Someone Else Swing The Hammer:goodjob:

Loosen the nut, don't take it off. Don't have to do it super hard, just back and forth, will pop. You might want to remove the cotter pin to loosen the nut a tad more. To Brutal's point, a larger item might be required, just to give it more umph! (torque). I used the back of my 3 ft. axe, made a minor "golf swing" into the side of the spindle, and POP!

If you remove the nut, and hit the spindle, it breaks loose... lol... You'll have another cut.

When I was installing my headers, my dad was giving me a hand with a couple things. While taking off the exhaust manifolds, one of the sockets cracked and then shattered. I took a piece in the face, so I know the pain and frustration.

back the spindle nut to where its even with the spindle bolt , lift the LCA until the spindle bolt is straight up and down
this will take alot of tension off the bolt and should pop off fairly easy

Glad it's done. Now just have to deal with the headache you must have. You're lucky it was not an eye.

Suprisingly...no head ach, just a pretty deep gouge in my head haha. But yea after that little run in, the rest of the lift went in in about 15 minutes, could not have been easier. Now I just gotta dod the back, ran out of sunlight today.
