I am faced with a decison of Snugtop or Leer for my 2007 Crewcab 4x4 shortbed. I've considered the other options about all glass side doors, all glass rear doors, etc... I don't have the $ for the other models and I need the sliding side windows.
So, I narrowed it down to: Snugtop Cab-hi or Leer 100R.
I will get the carpet and front sliding, folding window.
Snugtop comes with one handle in the middle.
Leer comes with 2 T handles on the sides.
My concerns are which one will fit better?
Which one looks better on the Frontier Crew SB, body lines, etc...
Which one is better built?

What do you guys think?

I love my Leer. It fits really well and I haven't had any quality issues for the 2 years I have had it. It's been on and off 3-4 times with no problems.

I can't speak for the Snug Top or the specific model of Leer, but I do beleive Leer makes a good solid product.

Snug tops are a little more expensive, and only slightly better built. I think the main feautre they have now is that you can lock the shell from inside.

The leers (I have one) has an exelent fit. However one thing that I dislike about it is that there is a lip that comes down past the rail. It gives a very clean look but then you can not access the rail to run a lumber rack with the camper. Not a big deal for most, but I came acrross this issue. I wanted to add a lumber rack not just for the few times I try to haul 18 footers, but to load kayaks and such. Sure you can get a Thule or Yak rack ontop of the camper, but I dislike bolting straight to fiberglass, and having it take such loads.

Interesting, I never thought about the lumber rack thing since I don't have the use for one.

I think the XTR would look great if you've got a roof rack, but not sure how it would look on a truck without one. But I do like the super sport.

I have the snugtop supersport and love it. I wheeled with another Frontier in Moab that had a Leer. He told me he's broken 2 3rd brake lights with the LEER when offroading and you flex. Ive never had this with the Snug top and its been 1 of the top expenses I really like and find totally more usefull than the tonneau I had. I have the center latch with the inetegral keyed lock thats raised. The dealer I ordered from said not to get the flush mount. I think it was because it locks itself everytime you close it. Mine I just leave unlocked till I need to lock it. I also bought and installed a Kingcab sliding back window so now I can slide stuff up into the cab when I need to

See this is exactly what I am thinking. The tonnau is great and keeps things dry and secure that are under it, but its got to come off for pine needles and limits how much stuff i can take on a trip without a trailer.

But the bigger issue is the dogs. If we all go to the mountains and take the dogs I want to be able to throw them in the back of the truck. So the topper and the KC sliding window would be perfect!

The only thing is where did you buy it, and how much?

There website only lists 2 dealers?

I found mine used. for a couple for under $500. New these things will run you over $1k. They are hard to find used, and you need to find a 05+ frontier specific. Color matching is also a consideration when buying used. You should jsut assume that you can not find the right color if looking for used one. Mine was white so it is not that bad. Here is a little write up :

I have been think about a soft topper. Lot more versatile then a hard topper.

See a few Frontiers with them and they look good.

YOU NEED TO GOOGLE LOCAL VENDERS BY YOU. I THINK I PAID $2-2200. WITH OPTIONS. YEAH I ORIGINALLY GOT IT FOR THE DOG, BUT ITS USEALLY PACK FULL WHEN CAMPING, AND SHE , (AND I) LIKE HER UPFRONT WITH ME. i JUST PUT A BLANKET ON THE SEAT AND BELT HER IN. MOST OF THE TIME SHE SLEEPS ON THE SEAT AND I KNOW SHE'S NOT GETTING TOO HOT

Are the rail caps still on but under the cap or did you remove them?

man you missed the WHOLE benefit, you put the wife and kids in the back and its SOOOO much more a peacefull ride with the dog up front..:) Why do you think they call them mans best friend... Theyll never divorce you and take half the crap YOU paid for, and all they paid for, they grow up into dogs, not teenagers, theyre always happy to see you. And best of all, they love when you mod the truck and when you grab the leash. Theyre ALWAYS ready to camp and go!!!:)

Brutal, you are a Wise Man.
I have the Leer, Dog is in the Passenger seat when dry and clean, and in the back with her nose through the slider windows when wet and dirty.
Mrs. Wzrd left in March, I will be parting with half of the stuff.

The rail caps stay on. the canopy extends down to cover them up.
