Went out with a group from VA4x4 today to do some snow wheeling at Shoe Creek but found mostly ice. It was f-ing cold didn't want to get out of the truck we so we didn't get a lot of pic's. There was 4 of us. A Jeep locked front and rear. Land Cruiser locked in the rear. Me with the NISMO, and a Bronco that had open diff's.
The Bronco couldn't get any traction. The rest of us was had no real problems since we all had our lockers on but the Bronco would just sit there and spin. On the 5th different spot he was having trouble, his truck slided sideways. That is when we decide to call it a day. We only made it half way up the trail.

It was very cool so most of my pic's are from inside the truck.

Very nice-- looks like yall had fun. It's been a while since I snow wheeled - my Jeep CJ.
Noticed your front track width looks stock, but you have a titan front diff- is that the pathy 1/2 shafts and custom or stock arms, or what? (I assume you wouldnt fix this with just back spacing unless you widened your rear track to match for tire rotation's sake).

Titan diff with Pathfinder V8 half shafts. ICON coilovers with stock control arms in the front. In the rear I have AC 3-leaf pack.
I took some pic's of the suspension when the truck was on the rock.

All 4 tires were still on the ground.

Very nice photos and the clips are interesting, I fancied the ease with which your Frontier climbed the same slope that gave the Bronco such a hard time.

Sweet pic's Mike. You truck flex's very nice, looks like it could flex more when that Toy was close to maxed out.

That bronco has bald old tires from what I can see in the video's. It also appears you took a better path up that trail, slightly off in the packed snow vs the middle of the trail. Wheel base... I'm not a bronco fan or anything, but I am a little perplexed on how he kept getting stuck and then driving back in the same wheel path again to get stuck again. Broncos are capable vehicles, locked or not, I think he should have been able to drive right up that, in that particular video. It almost looked like he was getting himself stuck by heating up the trail, it would freeze, and make ice paths hehe.

Damn cold for no ice on the water crossings.

Do you think if you were not locked in the rear, you would have been spinning and stuck?

I believe so.
The Bronco did better then half of the guys in a group we pass coming down the mountain. They were having to get pulled up the trail at section the Bronco just drove up.

Nice last set of pics Mike. I have to say I'm surprised you still have the stock arms.
:noworries:It's taken this long for a company to make a control arm that I like and fits my needs. I probably will be ordering the Calmini arm later this month.

How aired down were you guys? Think chains would have helped the Bronco?
I was at 20 psi. The guy in the Bronco said he was at 15psi but yea chains would have done it.

Good pics.

How hard was the alignment to do without longer control arms?
Not hard at all. Everything was in the green the two times I did the alignment on the truck with the coilovers. My 05 did come stock with cam bolts.

I grew up in a 1967 Bronco, old school ones. My dad had a set of chains for it, and holy cow. Chains are incredible in situations. Thanks for bringing that up, I need to invest in some since I'll probably never be locked with my C200 and highly doubt I get a M226.
