Anybody have any experience with the Nissan OEM sliding bed divider? Seems expensive, but if it works well and keeps stuff from sliding around???.... Am new to the forum; one week old Frontier, LE, auto, leather, htd seats, etc. After dealer installs the OEM (?) trailer hitch, hope to add (non-dealer installed) remote start, Bak-Flip HD bed cover, above mentioned bed divider (or some other, depending on feed-back) and some nifty LED tail-light strips under the tailgate, just above the bumper. Maybe put in a K&N air filter too. Am gonna keep this one for a long time, so intend to go with synthetic oil from 1st change onward. Thanks for reading all this. As a 'Newbie', I'm looking for your suggestions/recommendations based on experience. Older guy, not into 'high adventure'- want utility and comfort. Thanks again.

I have had mine in my '05 LE KC since new and it works pretty well as far as keeping things in place. I have a little trouble adjusting it since I have a Fold-A-Cover on my truck and it interferes with the adjustment when you get to the front part of the bed.

The only other complaint I have is that it is a little bit hard to take out and replace when you want to have use of the full length of the bed. It is not perfect, but it has served its purpose fairly well.

Welcome aboard and you will find a lot of good advice on this forum. You can see a few,not so good, shots of the cover in the link at the bottom of my signature.

I definitely like the idea of the divider...especially for small loads that one might just toss behind the cab and and want keep stationary. Or for oddly shaped objects. When I looked at the price and considered the function, I decided that I may be able to make something just as effective and good looking for far less money.

Keeping in mind I haven't done it yet, I am considering a cargo net/curtain type divider sewn from nylon webbing and attached to cleats. Or a two or four point metal divider held in place along the tracks with thumb screws.

I don't mind doing that kind of stuff though and understand many people may feel its not worth the time just to save a couple hundred bucks.

If you don't need it today, just wait till someone sells it used. That is what I did and it worked out great.

Now, when you do get one, add a washer between the adjustment knob and the groove cut into the slider. This wil prevent the stud from being pulled out of the knob. Mine pulled out and not I have to source a new one.

Past that it does work but does take up bed space so removing it may be required for full length loads.

Yeah, that happened to me last week. I found some flat stock and just drilled and tapped it the same thread as the bolt on the handle. Works perfectly.

Got mine and did not want it but came on the truck even though i did not order it so the dealer ate the cost on it. I will tell ya for something i did not want i use it almost every time i put something in my bed. I find it very useful to have. I have the truxport truxedo tonneau cover and the knob on the divider hits the clamp used for the tonneau. I have to loosen the knob all the way and wiggle past the clamp to slide it from front to back. Other than that it slides freely in the utilitrack. The only time it sucks is with large items like my four wheeler or moving furniture cause i have to remove it. Other than that its great for holding little items in the bed either against the cab or the tail gate.

Same here, bought the truck in April and it free as an accessory part of the deal that I got, and I found that it's suck to have it, your right, you have to remove it for larger load, it won't go all the way toward the front of the bed.

Could the bed extender be used for the same thing?
Yes, you can use the bed extender for the same purpose, one think I like about it is you can slide it all the way toward the front of the bed, when not in use and you can also use it as a sliding bed divider too.

I had both, but only used the bed extender now, wanna sell the sliding bed devider, but the wife didn't want to, since they all came free with with the truck, so I don't complain much.

Yes, I use mine more for the purpose of a divider than as an extender. It is also much easier to remove than the divider if you need to take it out.

Also, I'm not sure what all you plan on carrying but have you put any thought into a ratcheting cargo bar? My dad uses one in his truck and he loves it.

Yeah, that work too, for quicker release, but I think the sliding bed divider would hold larger item like cooler better, if you do not have the bed extender to use as similar task, but then the bed extend may take some room in the width, Oh, well, just find what suite you best.

Bed extender .

If I was having to purchase either the bed extender or divider, I would definately be going for the extender .. great piece of equip .. i use mine all the time ... right now im separating Booze coolers from other lighter stuff in the back of the truck for this weekends camping trip ..
I flip it over and it holds the groceries close to the back of the tailgate - so nothing rolls around ..

'nother question

Thanks all for your feedback and suggestions. Will look into the bed extender, as it seems to do 'double duty'. That said, when I saw one in the showroom, it appeared to move up & down slightly when not in the extended position. Would that indicate 'thumping' noises in the bed when encountering the usual bumps in the road? Any idea what the extenders cost? Dealer's quotes for the divider vary between $199 (+s/h) and $249 (local dlrs). Wonder how that compares with the bed extender's cost???

I have the extender and divider.

I found the extender really useless and I took it out. It is simply too big and pointless in extending the bed in a useful way.

The divider is okay, but as mentioned above, the knobs break (washer is a good idea). It is also a real pain to slide up and down the bed and can take a LONG time to remove. Otherwise, it can be useful in preventing stuff from sliding everywhere. I slide mine all the way toward the cab or tailgate to "squeeze hold" little stuff that I don't want tossed around. DON'T PLACE TOO MUCH WEIGHT ON TOP OF IT...it isn't designed for that.

Overall, I used to have the twisting bars as mentioned above for my last truck. They were only like $20 (compared to $250? for the OME one) and I think they worked better. They will not work well if you have utili-track, which will be in the way.

I like an empty bed the best so I have more room to use it when I need it. I just slide the divider all the way to the front and place little stuff like umbrella, ratchet stripes, some groceries etc in the opening.

I've never heard any noises from the extender over bumps, but I guess its possible. Also, I have the Bakflip G2 and don't have any issues with the extender in regards to it either. Slides without contact, no interference and I haven't seen any dents or anything like that on the underside of the cover from the extender.

The extender can do everything the divider can, comes out easier and also extends (ironic name, huh?) the bed. The extension ability is nice when you use the truck to haul a few 2x4 (or anything like that), because you can slide then between the extender bars and it will help keep them in the bed for you because of they then angle up towards the tailgate.

Thank You RockHawk

Just spoke with Marco at Fontana. Has one in gray (but would order black) and is asking $212.30 + 21.23 for shipping (from CA to NY). Seems like the right place to buy from. Thanks RockHawk. Where are you located?

i loved mine till i hit it loading the grass cutter and broke it. i need to replace it but im not paying the $250 the dealer wants. its NOT worth that. it was great to keep grocery's up close to the cab. i will buy another and for me to say that it has to be good.

Thanks very much for clarify this, as I got the Bak-Flip HD is comming next week, so at least I'm not too stressful about this issue. Thanks again.
