I installed a Clarion single din deck this weekend and I used the plastic dash kit included by the seller (purchased from ebay) However the wiring harness that plugs into the back of the deck is hitting the back of the dash as if the deck is too deep for the dash. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

Does the dash kit have the Pocket on top or below the radio? What is the brand/model of the dash kit? Metra? Tsunami?

I would suggest trying another dash kit first before you cut that metal behind the radio.

you might be onto something. I the pocket is below, and the fit is soo tight that I couldn't use the plastic rectanglar border that goes around the deck to hide the metal frame that holds the deck in place.

I don't know the brand but after scrolling through some of the install pics on this site I can see it appears to be an issue some other members had because their installs look like mine.

What dash kit is the one that seems to fit better?

Could you try placing your radio in the bottom slot? Some kits allow the headunit to be placed top or bottom.

my dash kit doesn't have a pocket that can be moved. I am going to try and order a new dash kit to see if that will fix it. I just don't know what brand is the best and will allow me to move the pocket to the top.

I have a single DIN installed and also found that the fit was quite tight although doable. I put my HU into the top slot of my dash kit, and was very careful installing so as not to bend my wiring harness too much.

I bought my deck from Failshop (I know, I know), but it also allowed me to get the dash kit they recommended as they had a whole selection of them for various vehicles.

^Come to think of it, that's what we did when I installed mine way back when.

I got the metra kit with my kenwood and it fits, no fitment issue's at all. I would try that brand. I have also seen were guy's have had to use adapters for there rca's as they sometimes hit on the metal bar behind the radio. You can buy these adapters at radio shack.
