I found an ARE cap for my 25 SV King Cab. I am concerned about the bottom of the hatch wearing the paint on the top of the tailgate. Should I be concerned? Here is a picture on the sellers truck.

On my ARE cap the rear hatch does not contact the paint...it nestles against the plastic tailgate top and slightly overlaps....no paint damage at all. Nice looking cap!

Here's my topper, the ARE CX classic, came with the truck when I bought it. I REALLY wish at least one of my windows was a windoor instead. Also not sure if I want to keep it or not, so if any one is interested, I think I'd take offers.

Like the gull-wing doors or whatever that open out/upward on the side? Me too, got a green truck with a topper on it already as well but with sliding windows. I've asked my local topper dealer and it's $550/side + tax to switch out the hardware and whatever else to the openable ones. Still considering changing one or both sides like that versus getting a different topper.

I know it's big bucks to order/purchase a new topper, but having the features you want is near priceless.
For instance, I will always have a drop-down/hinged front topper window for the ease of cleaning the glass surfaces of the rear of the cab and front of the topper.

Agreed. If I had purchased my topper myself, I would have ordered the drop down front window and windoors on both sides, and maybe some lighting too. But because the previous owner sold it with the truck, I'm stuck looking for a better solution.

new ARE evolve cap with the new style rear door. I like it! Quality hardware all around. 22 king cap
Ooh, I really dig that new style rear hatch. I wonder if that's an option on the MX series too? I'll have to go check that out. Thanks for sharing!

ARE V series; picked up on Thursday. Not thrilled with the fit on front of bed. Took an extra layer of seal, plus some silicone in corner gaps. Hopefully no leaks.

Nice looking cap. I have the CX ARE cap and have 2 layers of seal across the front. I have had 5 caps now from ARE and this is pretty much normal. If you are worried about leaks, there are holes in the front portion of the bed of the truck that are going to leak. I always use a silicone caulking on this, before I put in my Bed Rug. If you squirt a hose at that spot between the bed and the cab, you will find the holes. I have had this with every truck I have owned. Good Luck

I just got one of these. I ordered it off Alibaba. I'll start by saying I was hesitant to order from Alibaba for many reasons, including fears of getting ripped-off and a strong preference for stuff built in the USA. However, after running out of luck trying to have a conversation with anyone at a major US company I was originally interested in, I decided to try my luck with ordering directly from Chinese manufacturers. It was surprisingly easy.

I can do a longer write-up on the expereince of ordering and putting it together, if people are interested, but the short version is that it is better than I expected and cost $1250 total, shipped to my door in 55 days.

This version is aluminum with sliding glass windows on the sides. It seems like there are lots of options and most of the factories on Alibaba are willing to customize quite a bit. Also, most of the factories will make one to fit any truck, even if they don't advertise it. You just need to give them the measurements. The one I used walked me through getting the data they needed.

I might paint it to match at some point, but I don't mind the black for now. You can see a little smudge near the seam at the rear (I didn't even notice uit until I looked at the pic). That was me being sloppy with the sealant. I'll fix that with some mineral spirits or something. The actual finish from the factory was very smooth and nice.

Any follow-up thoughts on your topper? I’ve been looking at one of the NGHT Owl toppers which looks to be the same as yours. Not many, if any user reviews of these aluminum Alibaba type canopies out there.

Still looking for a canopy for my 2025. Was about to pull the trigger on a NghtOwl Off-road aluminum topper. Sure glad I didn’t. I made a comment on their instagram feed asking why I saw so many rear door seals misaligned with the tailgate. If you look at the photos on their Instagram of the rear door seals a lot of them are crooked and not aligned on the driver side edge. Was immediately blocked from their page and the comment was taken down. I also have yet to find any real work reviews of the canopies or any of their products.
Furthermore I’m seeing a lot of these type of aluminum canopies (produced in China) with multi-month wait times popping up. Not saying it’s a scam at this point but I’d certainly be wary.

Looks like the tailgate was closed with the topper window already in the closed position. Doesn't seem like a real problem if the topper rear door is closed after the tailgate. Still, the topper rear door doesn't have an extension to cover the full width of the tailgate as other toppers do this. These aluminum toppers sit totally on top of bed rails--unlike fiberglass topper that is built to go over the edge and hide the topper/bed seam.
