stranded, 300 miles from home. Luckily, all it took was a jump to get her started.

She started fine when I back up to the pop-up to hook up, pulled the key because I forgot to unlock the hitch, got back in, turned the key to check the lights, went back to do something, got in and nothing, not even a click. pulled the trailer plug and could get a click when I turned the key but nothing else.

pulled the first 80 miles home in 5th and the battery seems fine for now.

whew thats good to hear. so is your voltage reading ok? how about your alternator?
yeah, the voltage is reading dead center (was a little above center for a while this morning). have not checked the alternator, probably should, already have to change the fan clutch at some point...

shut it down twice 80 miles from the campground and it started right up (which suggests to me that the alternator *should* be working ok). hopefully it will start in the morning. if not I'll be getting a new battery...I've heard Optima (yellow top? or was it red) are decent but I've only ever replaced one battery and that was replaced with a die hard.

hmm well maybe it was just some dirt/corrosion in the wires? or maybe something was connected to the battery that drained it? hopefully all is well and yes, optimas are good but pricey. for a daily driven truck i just opted to go with a walmart battery. it had more than factory CCA and a two year warranty....

Mine died when I changed my exhaust and intake. Unplugged the battery because I have been shocked too many times thinking it won't and it did. Charged it over night and it would still not keep a charge. Switched to the Optima yellow top, and starts perfectly everytime.

hmmm ....

Did you accidently flip the switch to the 12volt setting on your Popups fridge? and leave it hooked up for a while... that could easily drain your battery(s).
