I'm looking at placing a magnet in the pan behind the shift lever to keep some things in place. The magnet is held in by 2 screws. If anyone can tell me is there a 1/4 to 1/2" or so of empty area under the pan so that I don't break any wires or anything?

Cool. Only caveat is: start with the part with the cupholders. I've got something screwed into that piece as well, but it's probably easier for you to look at the exact spot you want to drill rather than me trying to guess ^_^
