Rust...?

I had forgotten about this until now, but I thought I'd post and ask if any of you are getting rust on either your chrome bumper or on your foot rails? I have easily buffed out any rust spots I see forming on the bumper (all have been on the rear bumper so far...) but the rust on the foot rails is harder to get rid of. It's showing up on the piece of steel that connects the rails to the truck.

I have severe rust on the rear bumper, but its on the inside. Wash it out as
often as I can, but living in a Salt State....its about normal.

Remove the bumper and spray rust neutralizer/proofer on the back.

Hahahahaha this thread belongs in a diffrent fourm! My good buddie had a 2002 Toyota Tacoma, and about 1 month ago got it inspected, and failed due to frame rust. Toyota gave him his 150% and he bought an 06 Tocoma. I looked under it at the chassis last weekend, and believe it or not.................. Covered in rust!!!! So glad I dont have to stress about that!!!
I found a spot of rust today on my front bumper on the left side on the top corner closest to the tire. Man, my truck is only 6 months old. You wouldn't think this would happen so fast.
not to push this product ...

but seriously .. if these guys are in your neighbourhood, give them a go. I started using this product back in 1989.

Rust!? On an Alberta truck.:thatswck: Can't be, they don't use the evil salt out there. Betcha got a chipped or cracked windshield though. Seriously, maybe a good buffing and wax would help keep the rust at bay.
I've got surface rust spots starting to form on my front and rear bumpers, along with mild spots on the step tubes. I know the inside of my rear bumper has got more rust inside of it then I'd like. Even my leaf springs and some areas around my rear frame appear to be developing small spots of surface rust. Now because I don't have access to a garage it sits outside through the harshest weather, but I have a feeling I'll be repainting sooner then I'd like.
I was looking for this thread hoping NOT to find it. I have a '10 KC and the rust on my rear bumper is getting serious now. Granted, we've had a rough winter up here, but I just got my truck in November. This should not be happening! :thatswck:

I have been looking around at other trucks in the area and there are some YEARS older than mine that don't have one spot of rust with seemingly the same type of chrome bumpers. Below is just one picture. Up by the license plate area it gets spotty too. The front bumper has 0 rust, on the other hand. And I do appreciate people offering products, but I think I need a new bumper from Nissan. I shouldn't have to take bumpers off my brand new truck.

Interesting. I have yet to find any rust on my trucks bumpers but then again I keep Turtle Wax Chrome Polish on them. Works great for removing rust as well.
I was apprehensive about using steel wool on the rust, so I used a sponge and some Soft Scrub and some Elbow Grease - it took the rust off just fine. That was about two weeks ago and no rust has come back yet. It must have been all the salt on the road from the winter. :)
I'm going to revive this thread back from the mild undead, at least just for a bit.

Was going to rotate my tires tonight when had to stop and ponder why the hell there is so much rust on the frame, driveshaft and basically every weld bead and bolt! WTF kind of steel did Nissan use?!? 26,000 miles on my truck and wow. Sure I live in a salt region, but this is ridiculous! The front underbody panel is by far the poorest excuse. Makes me want to sandblast it and get it coated in Rhino Liner!
^^^ I have this too and on any vehicle it's really the only rust that worries me. Aside from doing a full box-off Rhinolining of the frame I'm really not too sure how to prevent it, or even treat it. Rusting on the shocks too, and it's even starting to peel a bit :( Luckily those can be replaced easier then a frame... One observation I might make, is at least on my truck, the rusting seems to be worse at the rear of the frame/underside then at the front.

yeah, I've got some surface rust on just about all the weld beads but the frame isnt too bad.

as for the bumpers, had a few spots on my bumper, then some clown rear-ended me and I got a new bumper. front bumper has a few spots where I dented it on a rock.
