Does anyone know if you can take those roof racks off without it being a problem??

it might have a few holes from where it was mounted. I'm not sure but i have thought of it.

Do a search on "Roof Racks" and it will give you a good idea. I hear different roof structures, etc.

went to the dealer because i was looking for an LE without the roof rack. the salesperson said the roof rack is removeable but it will leave holes. asked if i could special order one without and he said no.

now may have to change my choice to a NISMO crew cab or wait til an 07 and hope there is an option without the roof rack.

When will they ever learn. That is why I am driving an LE KC instead of an LE CC.
I hate the look of roof racks and I don't like holes in the top of my truck.

They need to let us build the trucks we want, not put us all in one box and assume we'll like it.

True, true. The roofracks does look cool sometimes but it usually looks pretty out of place. Plus I was thinking of buying rubber plugs to stick in the holes depending on how big they are, so we'll see when i take mine out. i wished that they at least put an aluminum wind deflector like they had on the older frontiers and the new/old x-terras

if your really serious about taking your roof rack off what i would do is take it off, sand aroudn the hole about 2" to bare metal. and bondo all the holes up. sand it down and make it smooth. taking your truck in to just repaint those little spots onthe roof will be kinda cheap. i doubt it would cost more than 100$. but atleast you would have no roof rack and no holes.

I will keep your email on file. After reading Frontin's post, I might buy a LE CC this summer and just remove the rack. So if no one's took you up on your offer by this summer, I am willing to sell the rack to you. I won't ask for much. Just want to cover for some of the body work and the painting of the holes that the rack will leave.

The only problem would be that I am buying a 06 CC. Is there a difference in the 05 and 06 where the rack would not fit?...

The roof are different. The trucks that come with the roof rack are load bearing to allow the racks to hold 150 lbs. The trucks that come without roof rack are just a standard plain sheetmetal roof. You can put a roof rack on a truck that didn't come with a roof rack, but remember the roof is weaker and wont be able to hold much of anything on there.

The roofs are the same from what I’m told. The only difference is that the load bearing roof has a support in each corner. (Which I can buy at a dealership for $4.00 a piece.) Other then that from what I am told the roofs are the same.

I don't know about adding a support to the corners but if you can cool. But whats involved with installing the support to the shell of the cabin? By the time you get into the costs, you might have been better off getting an aftermarket roof rack.

I agree, i didnt know about the supports until i called the parts dept at the Nissan shop.. i am looking into it. Im not going to drop a bunch of bank just to have a roof rack on my truck. I just like the way they look and still kick my self in the a$$ for not getting it the first time around.

i have a CC w/o roof rack, and i took a peek behind the headliner and i didnt see any bracket behind it and the roof rack should be mounted is blocking by the sunroof rail. i just wonder those have a roof rack do they come with sunroof,

Yeah, but like I said, you can put a factory roof rack on with no problems. Just don't try to put much of anything on top and risk caving in the roof! But if its just for looks, it'll be cool. Look into how much it will cost to install the roof rack supports. 8)

i was always anti-roof rack for my frontier. but after all the talk (and not to mention the cost to remove it ), i gave it a second look and i have to honestly say that it is growing on me. it does looks cleaner and it does not stand out so much on a black frontier and that's the color im leaning towards my purchase this summer. still on the fence though until i get the exact cost to do the body work and painting to remove it...
