Has anyone done one or ordered one?
I cant seem to find them anywhere.
I dont know what if anything other than the rack hardware is different on the roofs of the CC vs KC.

This is something I have always thought of and would help with running roof lights as well. If anyone has done it, or knows of a product that exists that would be super helpful.

i have one let me know what u think and ill post more pics
That rack looks awesome!!
Can you post more pics for ideas?

My main issue other than design ideas is the mounting. I dont want to start hacking up my roof only to realize that there isnt any internal support for a rack you know.
Nothing says hack like silicone covered holes :D

Thanks for the help guys! I dont know what I would do without this site!!

I will talk to these guys on ideas.

there is no support in the roofs unless you count a thin piece of sheet metal with threaded a support. grade 8 bolts with silicone and large fender washers worked fine on my truck.

mines rated at 160, but i've had my spare 31x10.50, a 48' high lift, and an axe and shovel plus 6 lights lol
See thats pretty much all I would need. I would be putting boots, dirty riding gear, maybe the spare, shovel, lights, etc.

I have not decided yet if I am going to do more research for the rack/light cage, or just bed rack with lightbar (see attached).

Since I mainly use my truck to shuttle my bikes/bikes up the hill, and the occasional move etc I am leaning more toward the roof rack with a light cage. That way I can have 2 forward lights, 2 angled outwards, and 2 rear, with storage space.

my biggest issue is wrecking the roof.
Shoulda just bought a 4 door...

See now maybe thats just what I should do, sell the KC and buy a CC with a short box that way I have the same wheelbase. But then I cant fit my bike in it with the tailgate closed... oh decisions

I've been kicking this one around for a couple years now myself.
Like you, my biggest issue is wrecking the roof.
Just for reference: http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f10/first-kc-le-roof-rack-i-think-24802/
The more I think about it, the factory roof rack just doesn't look right on a KC IMHO Not to mention, drilling holes in my roof (16 is what Yuki did I think, WOW) sounds kinda scary.

My problem is that I don't have the Utilitrack to work off of. I really like that bed rack in the pic you posted though. This will most likely be the way I go in the future.

I agree with ffips, seems kinda silly to swap trucks just for a roof rack, unless you have other needs. A lot of ideas on here to go with if you get creative. My $.02.

Trailer the bikes, use the bed for gear. No need to swap trucks, easier to load bikes onto trailer.

Just another option in the mix....
yeah I always thought about that but then I might as well buy an X. I hate towing trailers and I mainly just haul my DH bike and a few buddies around or up the mountain. A trailer would definately not make it to the top.

I just did some number reasearch on the Nissan site and the CC has only 8" of more leg room, 3" of hip and shoulder room, and about 13L of extra cab space.
I think I will have to sit in one to actually decide, but based on these #'s its not really worth it for me.

Sorry that came out wrong. I would be swapping for more cab space.
Yeah that bed rack is pretty slick, I really like it. BUT I would rather have the lights and mounts on the roof so I can keep all the bed space I can get. When I stuff 3 DH bikes, 3 gear bags, and camping equipment it gets pretty tight in there.

I honestly couldnt live without the utilitrack. It is the slickest awesomest system I have ever used. It was always one of my biggest issues with trucks. Tieing down 3+ bikes in the back and not having straps going through wheels, frames etc. Now I just have all 4 mounts in the front and its super clean and nothing moves.

I bet it is! In 07, it was an option. An option that wasn't on the only KC 6spd Nismo in my area so I settled. Still kicking myself in the arse to this day!!

i installed an OEM roof rack on my 06 CC frontier last summer. It took 16 holes, some brackets from nissan for the roof rack to screw into inside the cab, some bolts and a bunch of silicon. Looks factory and so far there hasn't been any leaks.

Check out my gallery and you will see a my truck without a roof rack and then with a roof rack.
