Rock Rails

Tired of scouring through posts to find this info. Web searches aren't a ton of help either. Aside from Shrock who else makes rock rails for our trucks? I haven't found any nerf bars I like. They either stick out too far or look silly. I like the lower profile of rails and the true protection they offer when I am truly off road 1-2 times per year.

I like the Shrocks, was just looking for a more affordable ($510 to my door for Shrocks) alternative. Thanks all.

4x4parts.com. Not going to find anything much cheaper
They are more commonly refered to as "sliders" so that is what I would search for.

There are only Shrocks for a bolt on application. There is a nice DIY using a set of weld-ons ment for a Tacoma.

There has been a few members that have had them fabbed up locally and it was cheaper and better. I would see who can do it locally and go from there.
Look up AJs offroad armor i think they are semi local to you, give them a call and see if they will build you a set.
I would either go local and have then make it to your liking. You could also try
Nfabworks Home I know they will make some sliders and ship them to you.
does anybody make crewcab long wheelbase yet

As a bolt on, NO. As a weld on, NO.

Your only option is going to take the measurement and see what is out there for full size trucks. Most aftermarket companies will not produce it for your specific application since its a little hard to offroad in such a long wheelbase vehicle.

In all honesty, custom seems the way to go since most shops are hurting now and are willing to do custom stuff for pretty cheap. In the end, it is what you want and if it breaks, you can always stop back in and have them weld it back up and add a gusset or something if needed.
ya, its lookin that way. i already have a little offroad damage to my right rear just under the foor and right in front of the tire and i dont want any more. itll have to wait unless i can find it for real cheap. out of work and livin off mnimal $$ now.

Your not the only one.

New home, then laid off and still looking for a new job. It sucks but what can you do when Obama closes down NASA which will cause even more layoffs. This is why I havn't don't my custom exhaust yet.

Back on topic thou, has anyone actually priced out the cost of steel for their custom sliders? This would give them a good starting point to figure if they are getting a good quote from a shop or if they are getting screwed.

Talk to jasonsjunk, he's from northern oregon. I know he was having a shop make him some rails for his longbed and there was some mention of being an option for other people if they were looking. It's close so it might be your best option, you could see what they look like on a truck and if I remember right they weren't too pricey.
Anybody know of any good fab shops reasonably close (a few hours is fine) from Columbus Ohio? Have CC long bed and am nervous I will have the same problem as rorygbellows (aka Krusty).
Trail-Gear Inc > Rock Sliders

Try these out. Weld on. Any muffler/welding shop should be able to zap these on for you.

I have a set of the Trailgears 78" weld ons for my 1st gen KC. Fits perfect. Quality product ! If you are going the weld on route, I suggest using gussets to strengthen the frame.

They also have an ebay site. I got the sliders with free shipping. Sweeeettt ! I'm waiting for the weather to get a little warmer to weld them on. I don't have a garage so I do all my welding in my driveway. (my neighbors love the sound of my grinder:censor:)

Rorybellows I had my CC LWB sliders custom made, they were more expensive than the Shrocks mostly due to the time and labor figuring out how to make them. Bolting sliders on the LWB CC is very difficult as I found out so mine were welded on. The sliders for the LWB need to be strong since they are so damn long I believe mine are like 104" long (might be longer).

Here is a link to some pics of what I had done (before I painted them)

XE_King had this place make some for him and they did it at a very reasonable price.

Oh and BTW don't let anyone tell you to go get Trailgears they are way too short! The longest Trailgears are 78" and like I said my sliders are over 100" long to get from wheel to wheel.
cool thanks man. wish i lived closer to portland. 200 bucks for sliders sounds real good. might have to take a trip down there
