Regarding my 2005 Fronty:

I've had a 6-disc Rockford Fosgate unit fall into my hands and was thinking about installing it. I don't have the stock subs or steering wheel controls and was wondering if the unit would function normally otherwise.

Aside from the subs, are there separate amps in an RF system?

How much do steering wheel controls cost and is the steering column prewired for them?

Any insight would be appeciated! Thanks!

the deck will work fine with out subs or an amp. you will just have 1 wire the REM/P.con wire wont be hooked up. and you wont have 2 RCA cables hooked up that go from the deck to the amp.

now i think, key work THINK the steering wheel controlls just plug in dont they? i dont think you have to wire them, there should be a plate that pops off on your steering wheel where the control would go. pop that off and look and see.

There is a similar thread over on TUNFS and a couple of folks were pretty adament that you had to have the external amp to get the RF unit to work. They said the 6CD/MP3 HU that comes as part of the Audio Upgrade Package for the KC have an internal amp and don't require any other amp.

I also saw a thread concerning the steering wheel controls (it may have been on NissanForums) with pictures that might be a help. At least you could look at the pics without yanking your steering wheel apart! There may of even been a wiring diagram posted for the steering wheel controls as well. Don't recal if it pre-wired for the controls though. A search on either of these two forum may get you some answers!

I have a 6 CD from a NISMO KC coming to me (Thanks Shawn - badfrontier) and once I have it installed I am planning to upgrade my steering wheel to a leather wrapped one and install the steering wheel controls at the same time.

From the research that I have done (online and the service manual), it appears that the steering wheel controls should work fine. The steering wheel controls come as a set with the cruise control switches and are wired together on the same plug. This kit should cost about $40. This plug will fit into the spiral cable in the steering wheel. You will need to take the aitbag off to allow access to the two screws that hold the cruise control panel & the left hand panel on.

I will update once I have all the pieces installed.

As far as the RF, it is my understanding from the service manual & other forums that it will not work in Fronty's that are not prewired for them without the amp.
