Regularly recurring ignition not starting the vehicle (shifting console??) can anyone figure this out?

I have a 2018 Frontier SV that up until recently worked without any issues.

Recently and sporadically but now every few days or so I am having a problem starting the truck.

When I turn the key the truck either does "nothing" or more often it engages to start (chugga chugga chugga) but never turns over to start.

After repeated tries, then stop when it doesn't turn over (usually it turns over instantly), when I jiggle, play with, hit the shifting console arm it will eventually turn over and start/run without issue. The truck will be fine for a day, few days, week but then the issue returns, same as before. I'm noticing this becoming more frequent and now it takes longer to start the truck.

A friend who is a senior mechanic for United and also has a boat yard has and loves his Titan (and recommended I look at the Frontier which I love by the way) said the issue has something to do with a safety "thing" (I forget the term he used) within the shifting console and was an easy fix.

I took it to my local mechanic (and then another referred to me) explaining the situation. Each told me that unless the truck doesn't start in their presence they are likely unable to determine the problem. I left the truck with them (each) for 2 days and both stated every time they went to start the truck it did as intended and said there was nothing they could do about it.

The issue increased in frequency and I now the truck is with my local dealership. They have had the truck 4 days and came back to me with the same reply even after a "Master Tech" played with the truck for a few days. They called me today saying I can pick the truck up, there is nothing they can do about the issue.

My obvious concern is what happens when this issue becomes permanent and the truck doesn't start at all stranding me and now I have to have it towed to whoever.......

Does/Has ANYONE had this or similar issue and or know someone who has and more importantly if so how it was corrected?

HELP!

John

I can be reached directly and a bit more easily at JGarofalo3@gmail.com as I am not on here that much

Any information, help, etc is GREATLY appreciated - Thank you!

The crank but no start sounds like it could be the immobilizer or chip in the key. I don't know the details on the safety switch issue since I have not experienced it, but I believe that will cause a no-start/no-crank issue.

It could be several things John, what the mechanics are telling you is a standard line when they don't want to mess with it. Get some more clarification from that friend about that "safety thing".
Other wise it will become a guessing game. Plenty of parts changers out here who will gladly take your money, very few have any real diagnostic abilities.

p.s It's going to get deep here John so get ready. (if you know what I mean)
