I'm just curious why my '10 Frontier disables the recirculate air feature when the controls are set to anything other than face vents only or face/floor. I will usually throw recirculate on when I'm driving past something smelly such as a dump, etc - but in the winter time when I'm most likely going to have the controls on feet only, you cant use recirculate until you switch it to feet/face (or face only).

Just curious what they were thinking with this.

Thanks,
Rick

Anything that has to do with defrosting means that you want the humidity lower in the truck's interior than it currently is, the humidity will not get any lower if it's recirculating the same air over and over again, it even runs the AC pump when it's in a defrost vent mode, like most vehicles do. But yeah, you're right, the fact that it doesn't allow you to force it to recirc mode is just dumpy, but maybe there's a way to modify the controls to allow it.

There is a member on here who modified the Defrost to be used and not turn on the AC pump. I think its a good mod and my state doesn't have a humidity problem, even in the summer its dry. I need to do that mod one of these days...

Understandably, it should not recirculate when any defrost mode is on (either full defrost, or defrost/foot). My previous vehicle behaved that way as well.

I am referring to the fact that when the position switch is in heat mode (feet only), recirculate is disabled.

the only time I run my 00 in recirculate is when I have the windows down blowing hot summer air out and trying to cool it off. otherwise, its on fresh air.
Try driving within a mile or two of a New York landfill, and you'd think otherwise ;)

I hate not being able push when I see a skunk hit on the road. My old truck, and my Accord, and Sonata work at any selection. One of the first things I didn't like.

On my 05 if I have recirc on and turn to defrost it turns recirc off, but I'm pretty sure I can turn recirc back on by pushing the button while in defrost mode. I'll check it out on my drive home.

Checked this out and my recirculate works fine in feet only mode.
